Introduction:

The postholder is responsible for being the focal point for all Service Personnel (SP) and their families’ welfare and other activities as part of BGN’s mission to provide welfare support.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:

  • Investigating and initiating compassionate cases to Joint Casualty and Compassionate Cell (JCCC) in the UK.  This also includes Dangerously Ill Forwarding of Relatives (DILFOR), Notification of Casualty (NOTICAS), coordinating repatriation of bodies to Nepal, providing aftercare service to the families of deceased SPs in Nepal etc.
  • Registration of Service Personnel’s (SP) marriage and issuance of marriage certificates.
  • Assisting the families of the SPs in applying for UK families’ visa.
  • Issuance of Brunei Travel Authority for the families to join their spouses in Brunei following authority for married accompanied service.
  • Providing welfare support to BGN, Brigade of Gurkhas and SPs of the Nepali origin of the British Armed Forces and their families as Brigade and Unit Welfare Office (BUWO).

What you will be doing:

Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with SPs and families to book appointments for marriage registration, Brunei travel authority and UK visa application.
  • Checking marriage registration, Brunei travel authority and UK visa application documents for authenticity and accuracy prior to interview and processing respectively.
  • Preparing the documents for Brunei travel authority prior to submission to the welfare officer.
  • Assisting the families on UK online visa application.
  • Maintaining record of Brunei travel authority and UK visa application.
  • Booking and maintenance of welfare house/flat.
  • Monitoring and actioning emails in senior clerk’s absence.
  • Weekly collection and distribution of mails for the department from the post office.
  • Coordinating distribution of welfare publications to all SP households in Kathmandu and Pokhara. 
  • Submission and collection of stationery demand for the department.
  • Reporting of faults in the department to relevant department in BGN for rectification.
  • Any other tasks directed by the welfare officer.

Applicant should have good written/spoken English and Nepali language skills. Proven experience, qualifications, and training in customer service and Information Technology (IT) is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently.  You will be assessed on your IT skills through a Practical Assessment and English Language skills to qualify for interviews during the sifting and selection process.  Individuals with college education and exposure to IT working culture with established organisations are encouraged to apply for this job.

  • Salary 64,081.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
  • Gratuity after completing three years of service.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal.
