FAIRMED Foundation Nepal

FAIRMED is a Swiss development organization committed to its motto, "Health for the Poorest." In Nepal, FAIRMED focuses on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) such as leprosy, LF, and kala-azar, and Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH). Its programs integrate GESI and Disability Inclusive Development (DID) to strengthen health systems and increase access to public health services. FAIRMED, as an INGO, in Nepal started its work since the year 2012, but it established formal operation through Country office from the year 2015. Its thematic focus in Nepal is on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), maternal and neonatal health (MNH) focusing on revitalization of public health care systems linking with service system strengthening, and demand generation in the community to increase the uptake of services. In its program, FAIRMED has adopted Disability inclusiveness and WASH as cross cutting theme which directly links with its work motto of health for the poorest. FAIRMED works with local partners including government line agencies and is guided from the Head Office in Bern, Switzerland.

Details / requirements:

i) Health System and Community Empowerment Specialist.

Details / Requirements:

The Health System and Community Empowerment Specialist is an on-the-ground FAIRMED technical staff member working with the health system actors at provinces, municipalities and health facilities to ensure quality health service delivery and that the community is happily utilizing the services. The position supports identifying staff capacity needs and provides technical support as needed, and   ensure LNOB approach is applied effectively in project cycle management.  Similarly, support community actors and work closely with the Inclusion agenda to enable communities to exercise their rights to health and social security. The incumbent will work closely with the Team leader to ensure timely and quality of activities and document the achievements, lessons and learnings regularly and share with the team and other stakeholders as relevant.

The position will be based in Baglung, responsible for both the districts. He/she will report to Project Team Leader and will work closely with other thematic colleagues, including Partner organizations.  throughout the process.

Required qualification, experience and skills

  • Master’s degree in public health or any other relevant health science disciplines

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience of working with Nepal’s health systems, experience in community-based health programs.  

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Nepal’s Health System in Federal context, basic health services including Neglected Tropical Diseases and MNCH

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in capacity building, training facilitation and community mobilization

  • Excellent analysis and report writing and documentation skills in English and Nepali.

  • Excellent computer skills and applications: MS office package

  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and a good team player

  • Exhibit strong leadership and decision-making skills

  • Demonstrated personal integrity and professionalism.

  • Exhibit strong advocacy and negotiation skills.

 ii) Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Specialist.

Details / Requirements:

The position involves ensuring quality standards of project implementation as per national policies and guidelines. The incumbent will monitor progress of field activities, ensure accurate data collection and use, prepare regular progress reports, case stories, and other documentation for dissemination at various levels. This role focuses on ensuring timeliness, proper process, and accomplishment of project activities.

 Required qualification, experience and skills

  • A Master’s degree in public health, or demographic, economics, or other any other relevant social sciences 
  • At least 5 years of experience in monitoring & evaluation related roles in (community-based health/ development programs in NGOs/INGOs. 

Core Competencies:

Monitoring & Evaluation Expertise:

  • Proven skills in M&E tools, data analysis, and report writing. Experience with health sector M&E, progress tracking, small-scale surveys, research studies, and needs assessments.

Documentation & Evidence-Based Reporting:

  • Demonstrated ability to document project achievements, collect and analyze evidence, and highlight successful practices and results at municipal, provincial, and national levels.

Technical & Analytical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in MS Office, GIS, SPSS, STATA, and online/mobile data collection platforms (e.g., ODK, KOBO, Logalto). Experience in monitoring budget expenditures and activity progress, identifying gaps, and providing support to address them.

Communication, Critical Thinking & Teamwork:

  • Strong report writing and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to think critically, translate insights into actions, and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
