Senior Researcher (forest management, restoration and biodiversity conservation)

ForestAction Nepal is implementing actionable research project on forest landscape restoration. To organize the projects activities, we are looking for Senior Researcher. The work involves frequent fieldwork as well as regular desk work and range of activities from stakeholder meetings to communication materials development for diverse audience through data analysis. Highly motivated, result oriented, dedicated and qualified candidates may apply for the position. Ideal candidate should have

a) Keen interest on theoretical and empirical aspects of restoration ecology, forest succession and biodiversity pattern and process over time and space
b) Good command on open source statistical programs, for example R and Q GIS.
c) Ability to analyze ecological data of varying spatial scale (plots, forests to landscape)
d) Excellent writing skills and willingness to play with large quantitative vegetation data
e) Ability to independently develop communication materials targeting nature of audience
f) Clear interpersonal communication skill and ability to organize meetings with community members to professionals

Desired qualification: PhD in related field with MSc forestry or MSc forestry with at least five years’ experience in research related to forest management, restoration and biodiversity conservation.

Additional notes on the position: This is full time position is based at ForestAction office and remote workstation is not considered.
