Introduction:
The principal role of the SRMA is to provide medical support to Recruiting team BGN in the capacity of SRMA during period of phase I (registration) phase II (regional selection) and phase III (final selection) for British Gurkha and Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force (GCSPF) recruitment process. Secondary role is Equipment Management for the medical Centre and recruitment activities, dispensing alongside the Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) Medical Care Assistant (MCA), and manage clerical work in order to maintain health record of these individuals. Tertiary role is to facilitate provision of medical care to the BGN entitled and eligible population at risk.

Job description and responsibilities
Recruiting
- Manage medical support to Gurkha Recruitment process, both clinical and administrative.
- Responsible for the coordination and implementation of medical phase I registration, phase II, regional selection.
- Manage the medical support for phase III, (central selection) under the direction of Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Recruiting.
- Management of secondary medical investigations for potential recruits with local Hospital for Chest X-Rays, Echocardiography, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of medical examinations including PULHHEEMS and occupational medical examinations as required.
- Translation and chaperone assistance to the SMO Recruiting when informing potential recruits who are deemed Medically unfit for central selection.
- Ensure that data entered into recruits' records is contemporaneous, accurate, legible, concise, and coherent.
- Supervisor of Combat Medical Technicians (CMT) and Gurkha Contingent (GC) Medics who deploy for recruiting
- Coordination of vaccinations for British Army and Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force (GCSPF) recruits after Phase III annually.
Medical Stores and Pharmaceuticals
- Assist with maintenance of medical stores including pharmacy stocks and disaster medical stores using Stores demand system co-ordinated through BGK SMCA.
- Understudy and support to MCA BGP for stock management in pharmacy as required.
- Liaise with the Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) Overseas(O) Regional Pharmacist as required.
- Be prepared to Dispense prescriptions and advise patients about their medications in the absence of Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Care Assistant (MCA).
- Assist MCA BGP for preparing monthly pharmacy returns.
Equipment management:
- Equipment care lead.
- Hold equipment inventory, maintain equipment checks including fault reporting and submit returns to WOES, HQ BGN.
- Co-ordinate Equipment Care Inspection (ECI) and Logistic Support Audit and Inspection (LSA&I) in consultation with WOES, HQ BGN and hold equipment inventory for Recruitment.
- Co-ordinate sub-unit Commander’s monthly return of equipment serviceability to Quartermaster.
- Co-ordinate quarterly Medical and Dental Serving Section (MDSS) inspections as an equipment manager.
- Procure local purchase items where required.
- Ensure the timely demand and procurement of all medical items required for Phases I, II, and III selections.
Health and Safety
- Safety, Health, Environment, Fire (SHEF) Lead for Medical centre BGP
- Manage of clinical waste disposal for BGP.
- Liaise with local contractor for renewal of clinical waste.
- Represent medical centre at quarterly H&S meetings and collate quarterly SHEF returns for Quarter Master (QM) / Safety Health, Environment Practitioner (SHEP BGN)
- Responsible for annual Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) return and submit to Quartermaster BGN.
- As a building custodian assist the practice manager with fault reports and related H&S issues
Routine care:
- Chaperone/translation assistance to the SMO in medical centre and escort patients to out-patient appointments when required.
- To conduct routine and clinical audiometry test for all entitled persons.
- Ensure that data entered into patients’ records is contemporaneous, accurate, legible, concise and coherent.
- Maintain confidentiality and respond to complaints in accordance with DPHC policy.
- Deliver health education when clinically appropriate.
- Participate in shared clinical work with SMO/UK PHC/Nepali Nurses for continued professional development.
Clerical:
- Manage routine clerical administrative duties in support to the BGN med centre practice manager and receptionist and provide leave cover as required.
- Must transfer roles and responsibilities to another designated colleague in their absence from BGP.
Healthcare governance (HC):
- To collate mandatory statistics and carry out audits as required.
- Participate in group practice meetings.
- Report accidents in the medical centre in accordance with MOD policy.
- Raise Significant Events with the SMO, UK PHC Nurse and PM and record on the Automated Significant Event Reporting (ASER) system.
- Complete all mandatory training as stipulated by DPHC.
- Input to and utilise the Health Care Assurance Framework (HAF) as a HG supporting tool for BGN medical.
- Participate in Continuing Professional Development in accordance with personal learning goals and requirements.
- Report Safeguarding concerns immediately to the SMO, UK PHC Nurse and PM.
- Safe handling of specimen results in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Accountability:
- To OC BGP regarding BGN Recruitment.
- To SMO (Recruiting or DPHC) for all clinical work.
- To recognise the limitations of their own experience, seeking advice and referring to others when appropriate.
- Undertake regular performance reviews and annual appraisals. Within these recognise the need for on-going education and training and accept responsibility for undergoing relevant courses in discussion with the OC BGP/SMO.

You must have:
- Excellent written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills.
- Excellent IT knowledge using MS Office tools (Including Outlook, Excel & Word)
- Proven experience, qualifications, and training is preferable for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently.
- You will be assessed on your English language skills, IT knowledge skills and medical skills through a Practical Assessment to qualify for interviews during the sifting and selection process.
- Individuals with Technical School Leaving Certificate Community Medicine Assistant (TSLC CMA), registered with Nepal Health Professional Council (NHPC) and having a minimum of 3 years of related experience is ESSENTIAL for this role.

- Salary 95,534.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
