About the project

SNV in Nepal has been supporting to rural municipalities in Sarlahi district with implementation of an extension phase of DFAT Water for Women Fund supported project on “Towards Climate Resilient Water Supply Service in Rural Nepal” for a period of 2023-2024. The project aims to support adaptation and strengthen resilience capacity of service providers and local government in rural water supply services in two Rural Municipalities in each Sarlahi and Dailekh district. The contributions are towards strengthening climate resilient inclusive water supply services, increase equitable and universal access, increase voice and influence within local bodies, communities, and households and utilization of evidence, innovation, and practices for water supply services.

Scope of engaging a consultant

Under this project, SNV Nepal is seeking a consultant for supporting the project implementation in two RMs of Sarlahi district. The consultant will closely work with SNV’s District Coordinator and Rural Municipalities WASH (and or BCC) Focal Persons and a Technical consultant for planning, implementation of approved project activities and achieve expected project deliverables with quality and within budget and estimated time frame.

Job Description

The consultant for supporting implementation of an inclusive climate resilience in WASH will have the following key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Support SNV District Coordinator to strengthen smooth coordination with Rural Municipalities (Parsa and Ramnagar) in terms of planning, budgeting and implementation of inclusive climate resilient rural water supply services project activities.
  • Plan and coordinate for design and delivery of capacity building training for RM-Ward WASH CC, Disability help desk focal persons.
  • Maintain the data base of direct and indirect beneficiaries supported by the project interventions and help RMs to strengthen their data base updating process.
  • Support to the District Coordinator and project team for reporting purposes, research, study, stories preparation from the field.
  • Assist the project team of SNV and RMs to achieve the expected deliverables and impact targets under:
    • Rural WASH Governance,
    • Post construction support mechanisms,
    • Social behavior change,
    • Gender, Disability and Social inclusion,
    • Project Monitoring and evaluation
  • Support District Coordinator for making sure that financials expenses are correctly made in the field and supporting documents are submitted to SNV country office as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in water, sanitation and hygiene sector, preferable with awareness (or) familiar with climate risks, hazards, resilience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • Experience of working with local governments, sector coordination,
  • Designing and delivering the training on gender, disability and social inclusion, social mobilization,
  • Experience in NWASH-MIS inventory of Nepal with capacity of data collection, analysis, visualization, and reporting.
  • Experience in conducting climate risk vulnerability assessments process and working with disabilities networks,
  • Experience in working with (or) facilitating female community health volunteers, behavior change communication campaign delivery in area wide approach.
  • Skill on case story writing, presentation and project reporting.
  • Ability to manage his/her own time and to abide by workplans and deadlines.
  • Capacity to successfully work in teams and to establish effective work relations with colleagues, stakeholders, implementing partners, consultants and service providers.
  • Fluency in Nepali and Maithili,
  • Good in written and spoken English.

Contract Duration: 7 months with possibilities of an extension.
