Parents’ Federation of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities – Nepal (PFPID) is a non-governmental organization established by the parents of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs) in Nepal. This organization is the national federation representing PWIDs, registered with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, and working for the rights, dignity, and services of persons with intellectual disabilities. The Head Office of the organization is located in Devi Marga, Sano Gaucharan, Kathmandu, Ward no. 31, Nepal. Currently, PFPID operates across Nepal through its member organizations in 62 districts.

The main objective of the organization is to protect and promote the rights of person with intellectual disabilities for their meaningful inclusion in families, communities, and society at large.

As the following staff is required in PFPID-Nepal, applications are invited from interested and qualified Nepali citizens:

Position: Project Officer

Number: 1 (One)

Job Location: PFPID Central Office, Devi Marga, Sano Gaucharan, Kathmandu (with occasional travel to project areas)

Duration: Until end of December 2025 (Annual renewal based on performance)

Major responsibilities to be fulfilled:

  • Coordinate and implement project activities as per the project plan and guidance from the Executive Director.
  • Facilitate trainings, consultations, and workshops related to disability rights, inclusion, and capacity building.
  • Prepare periodic project reports, case studies, and documentation of best practices.
  • Liaise with consortium partners, member organizations, stakeholders, and local authorities.
  • Support effective monitoring, data collection, and communication efforts within the project.

Required Qualifications:

a) Educational Qualification:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in social work, Education, Development Studies, or a related field. (Master’s preferred)

b) Work Experience:

  • At least 2–3 years of experience in project coordination or implementation, preferably in the disability or rights-based development sector.

c) Other Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of intellectual disability and disability rights.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, email, and basic digital tools.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project areas.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Nepali and English.

Organizational Background

PFPID is a national umbrella organization representing parents of children and persons with intellectual disabilities across Nepal. The organization works to promote inclusive policies, strengthen the voice of families, and ensure rights-based development. PFPID is implementing the CADiR project in consortium with the National Federation of the Disabled Nepal (NFDN), Nepal Association of the Blind (NAB), and Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) with support from Atlas Alliance, Norway.

Position Summary

Job Purpose:

The Project Officer will support the effective implementation of project activities under the CADiR project at the central and provincial levels. The role includes coordination, planning, monitoring, reporting, documentation, and communication of activities focused on the rights and inclusion of persons with intellectual disabilities. The officer will also support in building the capacity of PFPID’s member organizations and ensure representation of individuals with intellectual disabilities in local and national development processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement project activities under the guidance of the Executive Director.
  • Support in the preparation of project plans, reports, training materials, and documentation.
  • Facilitate training sessions, consultations, and workshops related to disability rights, inclusive education, and accessibility.
  • Liaise and coordinate with consortium partners, OPDs, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Support project monitoring, data collection, and evaluation efforts in collaboration with the M&E focal organization.
  • Ensure timely implementation of activities as per the work plan and budget.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives for member organizations and parent networks.
  • Prepare and submit periodic narrative reports and case studies.
  • Document good practices, success stories, and challenges for internal learning and external sharing.
  • Promote visibility of PFPID’s work through project communications and publications.
  • Maintain proper records of meetings, correspondence, and stakeholder communications.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks assigned by the Executive Director or Executive Board.

Qualification, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Development Studies, or a related field. (Master's preferred)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in project coordination, preferably in rights-based or disability-related programs.
  • Proven experience working with families, persons with intellectual disabilities, or marginalized groups.
  • Understanding of disability rights, inclusive development, CRPD, and SDGs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and in a team setting.
  • Fluent in spoken and written Nepali and English.
  • Competent in MS Office, email, and basic data management tools.
  • Willingness to travel within Nepal as per project needs.
