CA has a longstanding partnership with donors such as European Commission, ECHO, DFID, Irish Aid, USAID etc. for supporting humanitarian responses in South and South-East Asia region, for major emergencies. Christian Aid has contributed significantly to the regional resilience and humanitarian actions working closely with other institutions of excellence.

About us

In Nepal, CAID is implementing Country Programme Strategy with transition from humanitarian to long term sustainable development focus with key objectives of Resilient Livelihoods, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion and Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Response. 

About the role

The Programme Support Officer (PSO) will provide Christian Aid’s Nepal Country Programme with essential programme, compliance, communications, documentation, administrative and systems support. The PSO will work closely with Country Director, Programme Manager and other team members in managing programme, project and partner portfolios and support in meeting administrative compliances. Along with other Programme Team members, the post holder will provide critical backstopping support in respect of DRR, accountability, inclusion, and any other technical areas as per requirement. The PSO will play a focal role in responding to any organisational needs and systems support. This role is key to delivering effective support to humanitarian and development programmes and assisting in compliance to programme quality standards.

You would be required to ensure following tasks in your role: 

  • Efficient management of administrative systems for effective project and programme delivery.
  • Effective programme and reporting compliance support in relation to government and donors, grant management support, ensuring grant monitoring and reporting meet agreed standard (such as Core Humanitarian Standards) and timelines.
  • Ensure programme and project documentations, meeting minutes, workshops, monitoring reports are documented and filed as per procedures.
  • Support in arranging meetings, workshops, partnership review and confirm on logistical arrangements.
  • Support in internal project and donor reporting requirements as necessary.
  • Engage in field visits to partners and projects to support in capacity building on CAID programme areas and cross-cutting elements.

About you

You should be having bachelor’s degree level or social science or equivalent. You should have following essential skills:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Nepali.
  • Experience of working in an INGO with Programme administrative function.
  • Experience in international development and/or humanitarian work.
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining project management systems and documentations.
  • Ability to build relationships, including cross cultural relationships.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, to use discretion and show good judgement.
  • Experience of working in a high pressured and changeable working environment and working to tight deadlines with multiple and complex priorities. Demonstrable adaptability and creativity.
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles and international standards including SPHERE, the Red Cross Code of Conduct for NGO's working in emergencies, Core Humanitarian Standard

Further information

Reporting to Programme Manager, role will also work closely with Country Director and colleagues in the Programme, Finance and HR/Admin of the Nepal Country Programme and with staff based in other countries.S/he will liaise with staff across Christian Aid and may support and induct new staff and volunteers. Role will provide backstopping support within the Humanitarian Surge Pool or role of Programme Officers when necessary and shares best practice and experience across Christian Aid.
