LIDO-Nepal is a leading non-governmental development and humanitarian organization of Province 5 of Nepal. Established in 2003 in Kapilvastu, LIDO-Nepal has worked in Suspension bridge, Education, Health, WASH and livelihood. Lumbini Integrated Development Center (LIDO) is a non-governmental, nonprofit-making, social, developmental organization, founded to work for development in and around Kapilvastu district.

Young, energetic, change-seeking and enthusiastic youth came together to build its foundation and worked to establish it as a social development organization in 2060 (BS), registering it with District Administration Office under Organization Registration Act 2034, and affiliating LIDO with Social Welfare Council (SWC) in 2060 (BS).

Project Name: Promoting Resilience of Poor and Vulnerable Communities

Funded By: Islamic Relief Nepal

Duty Station: Kapilvastu District

Position Description: The project coordinator is responsible for leading the implementation of the Promoting Resilience of Poor and Vulnerable Communities project funded by Islamic Relief Nepal. S/he will be in close coordination with the Islamic Relief Nepal project lead. In addition, s/he will be responsible for coordination with the Local government and other involved stakeholders.  

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Master’s Degree in Agriculture and other relevant subjects with a minimum of three years’ experience preferably in the climate resilient Livelihood program 
  • Proven ability to manage risks and promote governance to contribute to strategic outcomes
  • Have good technical knowledge and experience in climate change adaptation, Livelihood promotion 
  • Proven project management and financial management experience
  • Diverse team management to yield quality results within the stipulated period
  • Presentation skills to highlight the areas of success and failure with qualitative and quantitative data and relevant information
  • Have good skills in the creation of a motivating environment where project goals can be achieved, skills and knowledge are enhanced, and learning & development are valued.
  • Good communication skills in English and the local language areadded advantage

Key Responsibilities 

Project Management:

  • Responsible for the planning, daily management, and implementation of project deliverables
  • Lead the project team to manage the provided resources in an efficient and responsible manner
  • Prepare a detailed Implementation plan highlighting key milestones and financial cash flow projections
  • Organize monthly internal project review meetings and make adjustments where required
  • Plans and arranges strategic meetings with project and local stakeholders
  • Identification of appropriate Climate Resilient livelihood Practices for the project areas and planning for knowledge and skills transfer to the target beneficiaries. 
  • Provide technical inputs and information for resilient farming crop calendar, agro-advisories etc.
  • Ensure SPHERE, CHS and MERS standards adhere to the project activities   
  • Organize district Rural/Municipality and community-level events /workshops/training
  • Identifying potential risks, developing mitigation strategies and effective risk management in place
  • Prepare monthly and semi-annual project reports and validate the reports against the financial reports 
  • Ensure for monthly/quarterly plans and reports are submitted timely.
  • Establish good coordination with local, district and provincial governments and other stakeholders to prevent duplication of actions.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies in coordination with the project stakeholders. 
  • Identify and evaluate the risks associated with project activities and take appropriate action to control the risks.
  • Ensure financial compliances are met as per the standard set commonly with funding agencies respecting financial policies, guidelines and periodic circulation.
  • Work closely with finance officer to prepare the budget, any amendments and forecasts as per project requirements and timeline in consultation with IRN Project lead.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as requested by the Line Manager
