The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is an international research organization working in the field of agricultural water management in Nepal and other countries in Asia/Africa.
We are looking for a professional documentary film-maker with extensive experience of filming in rural areas. We will be training community mobilisers on gender in three districts in the Mid and Far Western Regions of Nepal during two weeks.
Your assignment will be to video-document the training process during 3-6 days in two districts. Expected output is a short film of around 8-10 mn in Nepali with English subtitles. The film has a pedagogic objective to support the training of field staff of agriculture and water development projects on gender issues.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- University degree in communication/film-making.
- Skills in film production, including shooting and post production.
- Demonstrated experience in making short documentaries, preferably with a research organization. Experience in documenting rural development//gender issues would be an asset.
- The applicant should also have good communication skills, in particular with women and farmers, and should be flexible and autonomous.
Language Requirements: Fluent in Nepali and English.
Location and Length of Service:
- The shooting will take place in Kailali, Dadeldhura and / or Bardya districts during 6 days between 3rd and 15th November 2016. The output is expected by mid-December 2016.
Salary: Please send us a detailed budget including consultancy fees (shooting and post-production), per diem for food and accommodation and equipment. Travel costs will be covered separately by IWMI.
