Defence Infrastructure Organization (Nepal) (DIO(N) British Gurkhas Nepal, Kathmandu provide technical/ engineering support to British Gurkhas Nepal, Pokhara BGN(P) & British Gurkhas Nepal, Dharan BGN(D).  The department's primary output is the delivery of new infrastructure and the management and maintenance of existing infrastructure, including electrical distribution systems, mechanical plant, water treatment facilities, boilers, heating plant and other critical life support infrastructure in support of HQ BGN in Nepal. The post holder is responsible for Supporting DIO (Nepal) by carrying out general masonry and tiling work in the BGN estate. The civilian employees are critical assets to HQ BGN, as they collectively contribute towards organisational mission for Gurkha Recruitment to the British Army and Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force. This position is advertised at 40 hours per week.

Job description/ Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and materials quantities required.
• Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry units to construct or repair various type of structures such as walls, partitions and fireplaces etc. ensuring level, plumb and aligned according to plans.
• Prepare and install steel rebars, mix and cast concrete structures to required strength using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Mix and apply mortar, grout, and other bonding agents using appropriate techniques.
• Prepare surfaces for tiling (substrates, walls, floors), measure, mark, cut and install tiles/marble taking care of layout patterns on floors and walls, minimizing waste and ensuring aesthetic appeal and standard set by DIO (N).
• Install various bath and toilet fittings as per drawings and specification provided.
• Operate and maintain masonry and tiling tools and equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., levels, trowels, cutters, mixers, grinders).
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Work effectively independently and collaboratively as part of a working team ensuring constructive communication on progress and any issues encountered to line management.
• Any other tasks commensurate with grade and competence, as directed by line management.

Work Experience:

• Proven experience as a Mason, Tiler, or a combined Mason/Tiler for minimum of 3 years or have served a recognised apprenticeship as a Mason / Tiler for minimum of 5 years.
• Proficiency in using all relevant hand and power tools for Masonry/Tiler trades.

Qualification:

• Good written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills.
• Be able to provide formal vocational certification of training in Masonry and/or tiling preferably from a recognized reputed training institutions affiliated to CTEVT or be able to provide apprenticeship certificate on Masonry and/or Tiling work from reputed organizations.
• Candidate must be a literate person with SLC/SEE level education.

• Salary 91,289.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
• Gratuity after completing 3 years’ service.
• Dashain Bonus & Retirement Funds (EPF & CIT).
• Annual leave 25 days and public holidays 10 days.
• 100% reimbursement of medical expenses for Job Holder and limited reimbursement for immediate dependents.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal.
