About Legal Aid and Consultancy Center (LACC):

Legal Aid and Consultancy Center (LACC) was formally registered in 1993 in Lalitpur District Administration Office (DAO) under Organization Registration Act 2034, however, it started its social operation in 1987. A pioneer organization in the field of providing free legal aid, paralegal support, pro Bono, and promoting women’s access to justice was established by Prof. Dr. Shanta Thapalia accompanied by a group of women lawyers. It was embedded with the mission of assisting to establish the rule of law, putting an end to violence against women and girls, creating a society free from discrimination, and upholding the rights and dignity of children, marginalized groups, and women with intersectional forms of gender identity including protection of human rights in Nepal. The organization was established with the goal of the creation of an egalitarian and just society. Legal aid and paralegal support, psychosocial counseling, legal/human rights education, and awareness programs, knowledge building and legal data management, capacity building and empowerment programs, policy advocacy/PIL for policy reform, coordination, networking, and collaboration with duty bearers are among the organization's core programs and services. LACC has provided free legal aid to more than 55,000 women and girls survivors of GBV and discrimination over the course of more than 35 years of ongoing involvement in the sector of women’s human rights and access to justice. It has covered more than 60 districts since its inception reaching more than one million people (precisely women and children) as direct beneficiaries. Further, it also organizes different outreach programs such as mobile camps in communities and legal awareness campaigns for women at the grass root level. Additionally, conducting research to identify policy gaps and advocate for policy reforms, ensure effective implementation of existing laws, regulations, and their amendment are an integral part of LACC. Organization therefore lead and advocated the women's property rights movements that produced an effective policy change in 2059. Most importantly, LACC is building a future generation of strong female lawyers through mentoring, clinical legal education, capacity building, and leadership training.

About The Job: LACC is seeking a Knowledge Management and Monitoring & Evaluation officer for UN Women project “Pathways to Gender-responsive Justice: Strengthening the capacities of right holders and duty bearers”. M & E officer will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating this project.  This role involves designing and implementing M&E activities, preparing reports, analyzing data, and collaborating with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks for projects.
  • Monitor project activities; Keeping track of project activities, expenditures, and progress towards achieving project outputs.
  • Evaluation of Progress: Assessing overall progress towards achieving results and the sustainability of project outcomes.
  • Communicate project expectations clearly to team members and partners.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collecting and analyzing data to assess the project's progress and effectiveness, preparing reports, and providing inputs for project management reports. 
  • Impact Evaluation: Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of project effects and impacts
  • Recommendations and Strategies: Providing feedback on project strategies, suggesting improvements, and identifying bottlenecks in project activities.
  • Support Planning and Review: Assisting in quarterly, bi annual and annual project reviews, planning workshops, and supporting the preparation of relevant reports.
  • Data Management: Developing monitoring systems, maintaining databases, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Compiling and reporting progress on project activities periodically.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Convening communities of practice, documenting lessons learned, and promoting organizational learning.
  • To coordinate with local government, judicial committee, mediators, informal justice actors and other stakeholders.
  • To act as a focal person for the consortium partner.
  • Responsible to implement the activities as per the agreement.
  • To build the close coordination with lead partners for effective implementation of the project. 
  • To supervise the Financial and Programmatic documents.

Experience and Qualification

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, information and knowledge management, or a related area.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in development planning, information and knowledge management, and monitoring and evaluation related to projects and/or research
  • Excellent knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection tools
  • Demonstrable ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as to transfer knowledge and skills.
  • Proven writing and communications expertise

Work Conditions:

This position requires filed visits for the purpose of stakeholder’s meetings and monitoring of the project activities.
