PROJECT OFFICER (CHILD PROTECTION AND ANTI TRAFFICKING) 

Position title: Child Protection and Anti Trafficking

Reports to: District Programme Manager 

Location: DISTRICT OFFICE, MAKWANPUR- HETAUDA

Esther Benjamin Memorial Foundation (EBMF) is a non-political, non-profitable, non religious and non-government organisation constituted with its only aim to provide social service. Since its inception in 2007, it has been working for the welfare of the marginalized, backward and poor children who are trammeled by the multiple social problems, living in vulnerable condition, at risk and always in need of immediate support.

Job purpose: Project Officer (Anti-Trafficking) works closely with District Programme Manager and concerned departments to carry out Anti-Trafficking activities inside the district. Besides that the position also requires to oversee Child Care Home (CCH) related activities under the supervision of District Programme Manager. This position also works closely with Project Officer (Education) and carries out Anti Trafficking activities in line with education programme. Besides, upon need, this position requires the coordination with Counsellor/ Rescue Coordinator, Child Protection Officer and Youth Programme Coordinator.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Child Protection and Anti Trafficking
    • Play a key coordination and facilitation role to plan and design programmes, formulate budget and implement the ‘Child Protection and Anti-Trafficking, interventions and Response Programme.’ 
    • Visit rural areas, villages, schools and meeting with women's group, families, CBOs and assess the real situation of trafficking in villages. 
    • Prepare individual care plan of rescued, reunited and supported children/youths and visit them and their family in a regular schedule and monitor their progress and update their individual file regularly. 
    • Conduct survey and research to assess the real situation of trafficking in villages
    • Develop case studies and success stories for the project area.
    • Develop a strong and close coordination with district level government line agencies, officials and other local level concerned agencies. 
    • Coordinate or conduct various sessions and events on anti-trafficking awareness to local community stakeholders 
    • Provide strong support (by assisting with prosecution procedures and other required resources) to the victim to file case against trafficker and arrangement of immediate rescue and other immediate supports. 
    • Coordinate with local authorities and NGOs especially detecting trafficking activities, traffickers and act immediately in order to save the lives of children.
    • Prepare and update the information of all the direct beneficiaries, stakeholders, working partners, concern departments, officials and other correlated organisations in the area.
    • Preparation of work plan, monitoring calendar and make sure of its proper implementation.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports in timely manner
  •  Child Care Home 
    • Oversee if the individual files of children of care home are maintained properly by housemothers. 
    • Coordinate with concerned departments and District Programme Manager about immediate needs of semi-home and take needful action to fulfill such immediate needs or emergency support in Care Home. 
    • Oversee the overall academic progress of children of Care Home and provide quarterly report to District Programme Manager.  
    • Update the condition of Child Care Home every week and communicate with District Programme Manager. 
    • Coordinate with the Doctor appointed for health checkup of children and oversee whether the routine checkup of children are done as per the plan. 
    • And any other care home related tasks as assigned by the District Programme Manager. 

Eligibility

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in development studies or social sciences with minimum two years of hands on working experience in similar field. 
  • Having sound and practical knowledge in the field of Anti-Trafficking and about its preventive measures, approaches and methodologies, 
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to create a favourable working environment and to get instant support from/in local communities, 
  • Familiar in coordination with District Level Government Departments, Officials, other local level concern agencies and other organisations, 
  • A very good communication and correspondence skills with excellent spoken Nepali and English, 
  • Good team worker, able to live in remote areas under basic circumstances in a remote village set up and work closely with a small team, 
  • Ability to plan and organise work effectively and prepare report 
  • Should have working knowledge on Microsoft Office Programmes with Nepali typing skills, 
  • Having knowledge on handling cases on trafficking and facilitating the victims, 
  • Passionate to work with children.  

Working Condition 

The job requires frequent travel on motorbikes and should have valid two wheeler driving license. Also, the staff might have to make physically demanding travels across remote villages of Makwanpur occasionally.  

Working Hours

Working hours are normally 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with break for lunch. However, the post holder may need to frequently work out of hours or at weekends. The employment is on a contractual basis and renewable.
