MountainChild, Inc

MountainChild, Inc is a charity incorporated in the USA, and a registered INGO in Nepal. Its origins began in 2000 when exploratory teams traveled to the high Himalayan regions of Nepal to research the severe medical, social, educational, and environmental challenges facing children and their families in these areas. Through a project agreement with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal, and with continuing consultation with local government, civil society organizations and community leaders, MountainChild focuses on five core areas: health, education, child labor, anti-trafficking and environment. Its goal through our humanitarian and development work is to stop the cycle of suffering and enable mountain children to become carriers of hope to their people. In the ChumNubri Rural Municipality of far northern Gorkha we work through implementing partner, SGCAS, supporting schools, health posts and operating the HALO (Helicopter Air Lift Operation) rapid transport service for Nepalis in need of urgent transport to higher levels of medical care.

Shree Gap Community Awareness Society (SGCAS)

SGCAS is a registered NGO, based in the ChumNubri Rural Municipality of Gorkha, which exists to promote the public wellbeing of Himalayan people by ensuring increased access to health and education, working towards sustainable agricultural solutions, the elimination of human trafficking and promoting care for the environment. It works towards elimination of poverty and building resilience through livelihood projects, adult literacy and education, and through disaster risk reduction programs and training. Through all SGCAS’s activities, it promotes gender and social equity, by prioritizing women and girls, disabled, indigenous and marginalized groups, coordinating with civil society organizations, individuals, community and government.
