Invitation for application for Grant partner
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We support peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and countries worldwide. Through our arts, education and English programmes, we give opportunities to millions of people worldwide each year. We are on the ground in six continents and over 100 countries. British Council is operating in Nepal since 1959.
British Council is working in the area of youth leadership development. Our Youth Connect Programme supports young leaders and influencers to contribute to trust-building, cohesion and stability in their societies and represent their communities on a local, regional and national stage. The programme will address change around four main thematic areas of concern to young people: (i) Climate Change, (ii) Conflict and stability, (iii) Employability and (iv) Disconnection and alienation.
Grant Partner for ‘Strengthening Youth Civil Society’
‘Strengthen Youth Civil Society’ aims to support initiatives to strengthen Youth CSO through grant funding and mentorship for creating stronger youth CSO to enable their positive youth engagement in climate and social issues. The support will help develop leadership and positive pathways for young people through their institutions, so that they can be bastions of trust, social cohesion, resilience, and constructive dialogue.
This grant partnership is a part of British Councils overarching ‘Youth for Climate and Social Action’ (YCSA) project aimed at harnessing the potential of Nepalese youth by giving them opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and expand their networks. ‘Strengthening Youth Civil Society’ is a key component under YCSA, aimed to institutionalize marginalized young people’s voices through youth CSOs in Nepal, to combat climate change and other social issues.
The British Council is seeking applications from potential grant partners to support the British Council to increase engagement, networking and influence of marginalized young women and men in planning, policymaking, and monitoring and community actions with regards to climate change and other pressing social issues.
Two grants have been categorized under the grant partnership with some cross cutting themes:
Category 1: Youth Voice and Engagement (Youth CSO Platforms)
Category 2: GESI and Inclusive Community Action
Interested CSOs can propose relevant interventions for either one or both grant categories. Applicants applying for both grant categories are required to submit a singular cohesive concept, not two separate applications.
This project in Nepal will be implemented until June 2025, with potential new extension phase post June 2025. For details about the projects scope, available budget and criteria for application and evaluation, refer to the attached application guidelines.
