International Climate Change Adaptation Specialist

Practical Action is a UK based international non-government organisation established by Dr EF Schumacher in 1966 with the objective of reducing poverty through wider use of appropriate technologies in developing countries. It works in more than 40 countries through its country and regional offices in Bangladesh, Bolivia, India, Kenya, Nepal, Peru, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Zimbabwe.

Practical Action has a not for profit consulting wing “Practical Action Consulting (PAC)” which has been a leader in the field of development consultancy providing high-quality independent and professional services in the use of technology for poverty reduction to governments, NGOs, donors and the private sector. PAC is seeking to recruit an ‘International Climate Change Adaptation Specialist’ to lead our work on Climate Resilient Agriculture and Climate Change Adaptation. 

JOB POSITION: International Climate Change Adaptation Specialist 

SERVICE: 2 year contract  

LOCATION: Practical Action Consulting - Based in Delhi, India

Reporting to the PAC CEO based in the UK, and with a global focus (across PAC’s Climate Change Adaptation work in South Asia, Latin America and Africa), the International Climate Change Adaptation Specialist will be responsible for: 

• PAC leadership in area of Climate Change Adaptation
• Building PAC’s Climate Change Portfolio (Climate Resilient Agriculture and Climate Change Adaptation)  
• Technical Consultancy
• Building PAC capacity in Climate Change Adaptation
• Knowledge Management
• Practical Action Group Wide Climate Change Adaptation Leadership

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED: 

• Candidates should have a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject.
• At least 10 years’ international experience in more than one developing country, and at least 5 years’ experience specializing in Climate Change Adaptation. 

Candidates from South Asia are encouraged to apply, though exceptional candidates from other regions will be considered.
