United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is an international development organisation committed to empowering people facing multiple marginalisations to transform their lives and move towards the fullness of life. In serving the people of Nepal, multicultural teams of Nepali and volunteer expatriate staff collaborate with local organisations across nine districts, including four provinces and two hospitals. Together, they build partnerships that foster healthy, dignified, and empowered individuals and transformed communities.
In response to the Bhotekoshi flash flood, UMN invites applications from interested and qualified Nepali candidates for the positions mentioned below. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring recovery project activities.
1. Project Manager (Engineer)
Required Number: 1
Location: Kathmandu
The Project Manager (Engineer) will support regular monitoring, ensure quality assurance, and provide technical inputs on construction and settlement related interventions at the field level throughout the recovery project.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, disaster management or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in public, institutional, or private building construction.
- Experience in project implementation, monitoring, and reporting, preferably in a humanitarian context.
- Experience working in humanitarian settings, particularly in the community, school, and health sectors, is preferred.
- Knowledge of multi-hazard-resistant construction techniques and rural construction practices.
- Experience working in a cross-cultural setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
2. Position: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinator
Required Number: 1
Location: Kathmandu
The MEAL Coordinator will be responsible for establishing and implementing effective MEAL systems and building the capacity of UMN and Local Partner Organisations (LPOs) in the working districts to fulfil the strategic objectives of UMN.
Qualification and Experience:
- Master’s degree in development studies, statistics or an equivalent field, with at least three years of relevant work experience in development organisations, including I/NGOs; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in development studies, statistics or an equivalent field, with at least five years of relevant work experience in development organisations, including I/NGOs.
- Significant experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems, including participatory M&E concepts, methods, and tools.
- Experience in humanitarian response interventions with MEAL responsibilities.
- Experience in people-centred and participatory project design processes.
- Knowledge and experience in community development.
3. Finance Officer
Required Number: 1
Location: Kathmandu
The Finance Officer will manage various financial key functions including donor reporting, support to the recovery project staff, and partner organisation in financial management matters to ensure sound financial management within UMN Thapathali and among local partners.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in BBS, BBA, or an equivalent field.
- At least three years of experience in accounting and financial management with an I/NGO.
- Strong experience in computerised accounting systems and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
4. Position: Driver
Required Number: 1
Location: Kathmandu
The Driver will provide reliable, safe and efficient transportation service to support to UMN's operations.
Qualification and Experience:
- SEE (Class 10) passed.
- Three to five years of professional driving experience.
- Valid driving license for four-wheelers (car/jeep).
- Safe and responsible driving record.
- Experience in vehicle servicing and maintenance.
- Ability to read and write basic English and Nepali.
