Production of a Video Podcast on the Role of Sports in Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Highlighting Disability Athletes’ Talents
1. Background
Cricket Association of the Blind, Nepal is a non-governmental Organization that has been promoting sports of persons with disabilities including cricket for the visually impaired since the day of its establishment in the year 2006. Currently, it has been implementin a project called mainstreaming inclusive sports in Nepal with an aim to promote sports of persons with disabilities for ensuringinclusion, equality and garnering visibility of disability athletes talents and creativity through sports.
Sports have proven to be an effective tool for social inclusion, empowerment, and improving the physical and emotional well-being of persons with disabilities (PWDs). Disability athletes continue to challenge stereotypes, demonstrate excellence, and inspire change in society. In order to amplify these voices and promote a more inclusive sport environment, there is a need to produce a high-quality video podcast that highlights the transformative impact of sports and showcases the talents, experiences, and aspirations of athletes with disabilities.
2. Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to conceptualize, script, film, and produce a professional video podcast series that:
- Highlights how sports contribute to empowerment, inclusion, and personal development of PWDs.
- Showcases the stories, achievements, and talents of disability athletes.
- Raises awareness among stakeholders—including the public, policymakers, sports institutions, and media—on the importance of inclusive sports.
- Promotes positive attitudes toward persons with disabilities.
3. Objectives
The specific objectives are:
- To document and share inspiring stories of disability athletes.
- To highlight the challenges and opportunities for PWDs in sports.
- To promote inclusive sports policies, programs, and innovations.
- To create engaging and accessible multimedia content for broadcast and digital platforms.
4. Scope of Work
The selected consultant/production team will be responsible for:
4.1 Pre-Production
- Conduct background research on disability sports and key stakeholders.
- Develop the podcast concept, episode structure, and creative direction.
- Prepare scripts, interview guides, and production schedules.
- Identify and coordinate with disability athletes, sports federations, and disability organizations.
- Ensure all content and venues are accessible.
4.2 Production
- Film interviews, sports activities, and supporting visuals. [Field visit may be required]
- Capture high-quality audio and video following inclusive and ethical storytelling standards.
- Ensure participation of both male and female athletes with diverse disabilities.
- Use inclusive filming approaches (proper lighting, framing, captioning considerations).
4.3 Post-Production
- Edit raw footage into polished podcast episodes –20-30 minutes each,
- Add subtitles, sign-language interpretation, and audio descriptions to ensure accessibility.
- Include branding, graphics, transitions, and music (royalty-free).
- Deliver the final episodes in multiple formats suitable for TV, social media, and web platforms.
4.4 Delivery
- Final cut of the video podcast series ( 36 episodes at least of one episode a month).
- Short promotional trailers and social-media clips.
- Raw footage and project files.
- A short written report summarizing production process, challenges, and recommendations.
5. Expected Outputs
1. Concept note and production plan for the podcast.
2. Scripted and recorded podcast episodes featuring disability athletes and experts.
3. Fully edited and accessible video podcast series (with subtitles, captions, sign-language, and audio description).
4. 3–5 promotional teaser videos optimized for social media.
5. Final production report and raw media files.
6. Duration of the Assignment
The assignment is expected to be completed within thirty-six months filming at least of one episode per month.
7. Required Qualifications
- Professional experience in video production, documentary filmmaking, or podcast creation.
- Demonstrated experience producing content on disability inclusion or social development (preferred).
- Familiarity with inclusive communication and accessibility standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with persons with disabilities and relevant stakeholders.
8. Budget and Payment Terms
- Payment will be issued according to the following milestones (modifiable):
- 20% upon submission and approval of the concept and production plan.
- 40% upon completion of filming.
- 40% upon delivery of final podcast series and report.
9. Ethical and Accessibility Considerations
- Respect for the dignity, rights, and privacy of all participants is mandatory.
- Informed consent must be obtained from all interviewees.
- Content should follow disability-inclusive and gender-sensitive communication standards.
- Accessibility features (captioning, sign-language, audio description) are required.
