Seto Gurans National Child Development Services (SGNCDS), a pioneer organization in Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Nepal, is seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Senior Training Officer.

Duty Station: Seto Gurans NCDS’ field office at Ramechhap (Frequent field visit to Solukhumbu)

Reports to: Project Coordinator


Job Purpose

To coordinate, plan, and implement training, technical support, monitoring, and documentation activities related to Early Childhood Development (ECD) and the integrated curriculum for Grades 1–3, in collaboration with local governments and relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination

  • Liaise with local government authorities to support the effective implementation of the ECED curriculum and the Integrated ECED Curriculum for Grades 1–3.
  • Coordinate regularly with partner organizations to plan and deliver training sessions and related program activities.
  • Engage with education sections at Local level, ECD coordinators, and school level stakeholders including Head Teachers, SMC/PTA members, and ECED and Grades 1–3 teachers—for aligned implementation.
  • Facilitate smooth communication and collaboration among project staff and all relevant stakeholders to ensure cohesive program delivery.

Training and Facilitation:

  • Plan and facilitate ECED Basic & Refresher Training and Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) Basic & Refresher Training for relevant stakeholders.
  • Organize and deliver training sessions on the Integrated Curriculum for Grades 1–3(based on Government of Nepal) in collaboration with local education authorities.
  • Support and facilitate mobile meetings and parenting education sessions to promote community engagement and parental involvement.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for Head Teachers and SMC/PTA members on ECD principles and their respective roles and responsibilities.
  • Apply innovative facilitation techniques and use modern, child-centered methodologies to enhance the effectiveness of training programs.

Technical Support and Program Implementation:

  • Advocate with local governments (LGs) for the effective implementation of the ECD curriculum, National Minimum Standards, and the Integrated Curriculum for Grades 1–3, ensuring alignment with grade-wise teaching practices.
  • Design training outlines, methodologies, and materials tailored to local needs and national guidelines.
  • Ensure school-level compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain quality and consistency in program delivery.
  • Provide technical assistance and facilitation support to promote child-friendly infrastructure, inclusive learning environments, and developmentally appropriate teaching-learning practices in schools.

Mentoring and Supervision

  • Conduct regular mentoring and supervision visits to monitor ECED and Grades 1–3 activities implemented by local governments and the organization, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Share innovative and effective practices with local authorities and organizational team to encourage replication and improvement.
  • Provide technical support for the effective implementation of the ECD curriculum, National Minimum Standards (NMS), and child-friendly, inclusive teaching-learning approaches in schools and ECED centers.
  • Visit ECED centers and Grades 1–3 classrooms to observe teaching practices, offer constructive feedback and on-site mentoring to teachers, and support them in enhancing learning outcomes and classroom environments.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit timely, comprehensive reports on completed training, workshops, events, monitoring visits, and technical support activities to lead management, and other relevant departments/sections.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data related to schools, children, training sessions, workshops, including the data of corresponding outcomes and impact.
  • Document and share best practices, key challenges, and lessons learned from field activities and capacity-building events for future planning and program improvement.
  • Develop and write human-interest stories (HIS) that highlight the impact of initiatives and field interventions, showcasing change at the individual, school, or community level.

Deliverables:

  • Provide technical support to ensure the quality implementation of ECED and Grades 1–3 programs in the project areas.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of education-related policies and guidelines in coordination with local governments and stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective rollout of the ECED curriculum and Integrated Curriculum for Grades 1–3 in project-supported schools.
  • Support the creation and management of child-friendly learning environments, including seating arrangements, indoor/outdoor play areas, and WASH facilities.
  • Design comprehensive training modules and methodologies tailored to local needs and project objectives.
  • Plan and facilitate ECED Basic Training and ELDS-based training for ECED facilitators.
  • Conduct Integrated Curriculum-based training for Grades 1–3 teachers.
  • Deliver orientation sessions to Head Teachers and SMC/PTA members on ECD and child-friendly pedagogy.
  • Support and promote regular mobile meetings with parents, facilitated by ECED and Grades 1–3 teachers.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to enhance community and parental engagement in school governance and child development practices at home.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and contextualization of training packages and learning materials.
  • Conduct regular follow-up and monitoring of ECED and Grades 1–3 classroom activities, promoting inclusive, play-based, and child-centered teaching practices.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to the organization’s policies, procedures, safeguarding, and code of conduct.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the organization or project leadership.

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in education with a specialization in Early Childhood Development (ECD) is required. [A master's degree in education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field will be considered an advantage/preferred].
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in training and facilitation, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Development.
  • Strong knowledge of ECD policies, integrated curriculum, and training methodologies along with Early Learning Development Standard (ELDS).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, reporting, coordination and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in both Nepali and English.
  • Sound knowledge & skills on developing ECD packages and material based on ECD curriculum and training content.
  • Valid two-wheeler license will be added value.
  • Experience of delivering integrated curriculum Grade 1- 3 training (based on the Govt of Nepal).
