The Organic Valley Pvt Ltd (TOV) is an organic business-based profit-making company through the export of Nepal-based spices and herbs organically grown and produced in different areas of rural Nepal. Ever since its establishment in 2011, it has been exploring, successfully promoting and exporting the produce of small land-holding farmers, trying its best to uplift the lives of unreached farmers.

Position: Quality Control Officer

Number of Vacancies: 2 (One for each station)

Station 1: Kalidamar, Bheriganga-5, Surkhet, Karnali, Nepal – 1 Position

Station 2: Milanpur, Chure-1, Kailali, Sudurpaschim, Nepal – 1 Position

Job Type: Full-time

Reports to: Unit Incharge and Certification Manager

Department: Quality Assurance & Production

Job Description:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Quality Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will either have prior experience in quality control within a food or Agri-processing environment or be a high-performing graduate with strong academic and technical knowledge.

The QC Officer will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. You will also help establish, implement, and enforce SOPs, Standards, and compliance systems across operations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily quality checks on raw materials before processing.
  • Recommend sourcing strategies for selecting high-quality raw materials.
  • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to assess and improve raw material quality.
  • Monitor each processing stage — cleaning, drying, grinding, sieving, and packaging of spices and herbs.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
  • Supervise and document cleaning, handling, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Create and implement SOPs for hygiene, safety, and processing.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, test results, and traceability logs.
  • Prepare documentation for internal and third-party audits in coordination with the Certification Department.
  • Generate clear reports for management that highlight product quality status and improvements.
  • Train staff and workers on hygiene, critical control points, and quality procedures.
  • Investigate quality issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with the Unit Incharge to improve processing workflows and efficiency.
  • Expected to perform other related tasks and responsibilities as delegated

Academic and professional qualification:

  • B.Sc. in Food Technology, Agriculture, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • A diploma or certification in Quality Management, ISO, or Food Safety is preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in food/agri-processing quality control (especially spices or herbal products).
  • Fresher with exceptional academic performance and practical knowledge will be considered.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards, Organic regulations, and export standards for spices/herbs.
  • Familiarity with processing machinery used in spice cleaning, grinding, sieving, etc.
  • Ability to prepare and implement technical documentation and SOPs.
  • Good communication and team training ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic lab equipment usage.
  • Strong observation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
