for Documenting the Impact & Contributions of FIAN Nepal for Advancing Right to Food in Nepal

'FIAN Nepal' is a human rights organization established with the aim of advocating for the promotion and protection of the right to food in Nepal, in particular among the vulnerable communities in Nepal. FIAN Nepal registered as an NGO and recognized as the Section of FIAN International, Germany since 2009. FIAN Nepal's interventions are based on the 'Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948', 'International Covenant on Economic, Social & Cultural Rights, 1966', Constitution of Nepal, 'Right to Food & Food Sovereignty Act, 2018' and other policy provisions related to right to food. Key interventions of the organization are to raise awareness about the right to food, identify & document right to food violation issues & make it public, enhance the capacity of vulnerable communities and policy aiming to ensure the right to food of vulnerable communities.

FIAN Nepal invites qualified and experienced individuals and consulting firms to submit technical and financial proposals along with required legal documents to undertake the following assignments. 

The detailed scope of work is to conduct documentation of the Impact & Contributions of FIAN Nepal for Advancing the Right to Food in Nepal through multiple projects. Expected deliverables, required qualifications, and timeline for the assignment is outlined in the Terms of Reference (ToR).

Areas of Assignment/TOR: 

The consultant will document and highlight the changes and contributions resulting from FIAN Nepal’s advocacy for advancing the right to food in Nepal. The assignment will focus on two key areas of FIAN Nepal’s work: issues-based advocacy to empower right-to-food-vulnerable communities to claim their right to food, and policy advocacy to influence the formulation, amendment and implementation of right to food related laws, policies, plans, programs, and institutional mechanisms at federal, provincial and local levels.

The assignment will also focus on documenting changes in the promotion of agroecology at the community level, through evidence and stories highlighting community-led agroecological practices, changes in farming and production practices, the use and preservation of local knowledge, sustainable food production, and contributions to food sovereignty. It will further document progress towards climate-resilient food systems by demonstrating how communities are responding to climate-related challenges, adapting their agricultural practices, and strengthening the resilience, sustainability and local control of their food systems.

Through field-based documentation, interviews, case studies, photographs, audio-visual materials and other appropriate media, the consultant will capture credible evidence of changes in the lives and capacities of affected communities, policy & institutional developments, and FIAN Nepal’s contribution to these changes. The documentation will also highlight relevant contributions to national and international human rights advocacy platforms.

The assignment will focus on documenting change, demonstrating contribution, and presenting evidence and experiences in an accessible and compelling manner for advocacy, learning, accountability and wider dissemination.
