Antenna Foundation Nepal (AFN) is an independent media for development organization in Nepal since 2002. It’s mainly focus on production of innovative and distinctive media content for both traditional and new media platforms for raising public awareness, positive behavioral change and media advocacy. AFN partners with different media outlets to disseminate the content.

We are immediately hiring competent, committed and self-motivated individuals for the position of Radio Program Producer/Mentor.

Openings: 2 (For Province No. 2 and Province No. 5 local positions)

The Program Producer will lead the overall production process of various audio visual and new media programs of AFN. The responsibility to be taken has been comprehensively includes as follows;

A) Production of Multimedia Content

  • Supervise the overall production process from pre to post production (researching issues, writing script, hosting/narrating the show) for the production of audio, visual and new media content on different formats like Talk-show, Stories, Radio Magazine, Social video etc on various developmental thematic areas as per the specific assignments.
  • Travel inside and outside Kathmandu for the voice collection, mentoring and quality assurance of audio, visual and new media content as and when required.
  • Provide constructive feedback to radio programs produced by partner FM stations under the specific partnership assignments.
  • Develop promotional materials of audio, visual and new media content under the assignments.
  • Gather and analyze audience feedback receive through different medium i.e. SMS, IVR, Telephone, Email, social medias.
  • Prepare program summary for the website and further dissemination.
  • Attend to the meeting and discussion session as and when required.

B) Program Management, Coordination, Monitoring, Reporting and Networking

  • Lead and support to implement and manage media and outreach programs of AFN as and when needed and or assigned by supervisor. This includes effective planning of activities, review of planned activities and budget in a timely manner, discussion of implementation needs within team, ensuring timely and quality implementation of project activities and the measurement of their impact, and the submission of deliverables (including periodic reports) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain crucial project documents which track project progress. Keep file all project documents in an appropriate database or library, and ensure that all documents are accurate and have been accepted by the supervisor. 
  • Liaison with our Radio/TV or any other partners to meet the specific requirements under partner agreements.
  • Support Resource Development team and Executive Director to generate fund for the organization.
  • Prepare periodic and event based technical report of the assigned programs.
  • Provide necessary supports and information to Monitoring and Evaluation team as and when required.
  • Lead and supports to design, facilitate and implement innovative media content development training and capacity building opportunities for radio producers and reporters.
  • Interface with funding agency on program implementation, progress made on activities and operations.
  • Travel to the project districts and sites with the aim of providing oversight, monitoring, learning, sharing and making continual improvement of project implementation.
  • Work closely with the Admin and Finance head of AFN for office procurement and financial activities ensuring compliance with AFN policies and donor policies.
  • Leading (as and when required) the design, implementation and reporting of a large number of trainings that will be conducted as part of the assigned project.
  • Coordinate with concerned government and non-government stakeholders for the smooth implementation of projects activities.
  • Being so closely involved in the project, the Project Officer is relied upon to identify any potential issues or risks that could affect the progression of the project. They communicate these items with the supervisor, and work to identify potential solutions.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • An university degree (Bachelor's degree) in the mass communication and journalism, media, social sciences or any related discipline with specific experience related to social sciences and /or media program design and 2-3 years experience of working around media for development issues.
  • Good intercultural communication skills – interfacing with major partners, government agencies, local staff and project beneficiaries.
  • Team player with effective facilitation and mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge of project funding procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to solve problem effectively.
  • Ability to handle work related stress and pressures.
  • Ability to work flexibly, outside of normal office hours and in difficult conditions.
  • A sound understanding of, and commitment towards, good development practice including participatory approaches, building of ownership, and inclusion of inputs from persons belonging to under-represented groups and the ability to consistently work as a member of a team.
  • Capacity for engaging and motivating team members in effectively responding to their roles on project; including the ability to mentor and build their capacity on an ongoing basis.
  • Excellent planning skills with the ability to rapidly respond to ad-hoc requirements.
  • Ability to identify program weaknesses and problems, communicate those in a timely and appropriate manner (including reporting to donors) and work with project staff and management to ameliorate problems and improve project outcomes.
