Details / requirements:

The British Council is recruiting for a  Finance and Grant Support Officer to support on financial and grant management activities for the European Union (EU) funded Dakchyata TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) PP (Practical Partnership) project for Nepal, granted to the British Council through a delegation agreement for implementation to the value of Euro 14.1 million over four years. 

The Finance and Grant Support Officer is responsible for assisting financial management and grants management related activities of the EU-funded Dakchyata TVET PP project.

 The specific duties comprise, but are not limited to, the following:

Financial management

  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of financial plans, (re)forecasting, reporting and analysis for project activities in British Council system.
  • Assist in procurement of internal and external resources for specific activities and services, ensuring British Council procurement guidelines are fully adhered to.
  • Collect and make comparative assessment of quotations for procuring office supplies and equipment,  raise purchase order, ensure all account payables are managed and processed in time for the project office
  • Ensure documentation for all project specific transactions are accurate and in place for quick accessibility
  • Follow up on timesheets from the consultants and other project staff and keep records of such timesheets.
  • Assist to prepare required claims and invoices.
  • Assist to prepare internal financial reports in British Council system and external financial reports to the Delegation of European Union.
  • Update staff details with insurance company and coordinate with staff for their travel accidental insurance and assist in processing medical claims in case of medical insurance.
  • Manage project office petty cash fund
  • Prepare accurate monthly Cash Flow projection ensuring funds are available for operational activities with minimum variances. Coordinate payment instruments (Cheque and online banking), and bank reconciliations. Post project related journals.
  • Provide support for project closure and financial reconciliations.

Grants management

  • Assist Grants Manager in documentation for grants call for proposals, and coordinate process of call for concept notes and proposal.
  • Assist to conduct due diligence assessment of partner grantees, monitor compliance and financial management of grants projects.
  • Assist during information sessions on grants applications for potential applicants as required
  • Support in providing orientation to project grantees on financial reporting and support capacity building initiatives pertaining to finance
  • Process grants disbursements and reimbursements in accordance with British Council policies and procedures.
  • Assist in internal audits, client audits and expenditure verification audit
  • Assist in M&E of grants projects.
