Finance Officer, Jevaia Oral Health Care

Jevaia Oral Health Care has been operating since 2006 (formerly known as Kaski Oral  Health Care Project).  The project establishes sustainable, community-based dental care  in rural areas.  Currently JOHC has established nine rural dental clinics, and covers a  working area of approximately 60,000 people.  We are advocating with the government  to see our rural dentistry model replicated through the Health Ministry in all of Nepal’s  health post.

The Finance Officer will oversee the organization’s financial transactions, develop budgets, prepare financial reports and monitor all transactions.  S/He will be responsible for budget planning and forecasting. The duties will include bank reconciliation, monthly reporting , preparation of budgets, preparing financial statements, analyzing these reports, preparing invoices, vouchers. 

The Finance Officer will: 

  1. Maintain books of account and ensure standard documentation of each of the organization's transactions. 
  2. Carry out budget preparation and revision, monitoring and analysis on a periodical basis. 
  3. Maintain and update organization’s regulations and the existing policies. 
  4. Complete financial reports, lead the month- end closing process and conduct monthly financial forecasts. 
  5. Manage asset register, carrying out physical verification of assets according to financial management rules and regulations .
  6. Preparing all payments, cash withdrawal by bank and clearing advances
  7. Entering all payment vouchers, receipt vouchers  and other journals .
  8. Prepare bank reconciliation statements on a monthly basis
  9. Prepare monthly/ quarterly personal Income Tax declaration for employees.
  10. Prepare the financial reports required
  11. Draft and review contracts, letters of agreement and other contractual documents for partners and vendors. 
  12. Maintain an accurate filing and record keeping system for all financial statements and organization documents. 
  13. Assist management to make financial decisions.

Qualifications: 

  • Masters Degree in a relevant subject and at least 2 years of working experience with I/NGO administrative and financial management Or Bachelors degree in a relevant subject with at least 5 years of working experience with I/NGO administrative and financial management.
  • The candidate should have good command with Quickbooks accounting software, and knowledge of Xero (our present software) . 
  • Experience coordinating with government agencies and offices. 
  • Understanding of program implementation procedures, such as planning,  monitoring, and report writing. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Contract details:

  • Initial two-year commitment required, three-year strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing to move to Pokhara
  • Salary range starting at 45,000, commensurate with experience.
