Field Mobilizer
Blind Youth Association Nepal (BYAN) is a non-political, non-religious, not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established by blind and partially sighted (BPS) youth in Nepal. It was founded in 2011, registered with the District Administration Office in Kathmandu in 2012, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal. It is the only organization established by BPS youth in Nepal. Currently, BYAN has more than 500 members, organized into 10 district chapters located in Jhapa, Morang, Bara, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kaski, Rupandehi, Banke, Surkhet, and Kailali districts. Memberships and chapter expansion are ongoing. As a rights-based organization, BYAN intends to play a proactive role in formulating, amending, and implementing legal provisions related to youths with disabilities. It also focuses on organizing and capacity-building of youths with disabilities across the country. BYAN has strong networking and cooperation with different government and non-government stakeholders working in various domains of disability. Additionally, BYAN is a member of the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal (NFDN), which serves as the umbrella organization for organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) in the country.

Position Description
Blind Youth Association Nepal (BYAN) is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate for the position of Field Mobilizer based in Birtamod, Jhapa. The Field Mobilizer will work primarily in the field and will report directly to the Project Officer, while carrying out activities under the close supervision of both the Director and the Project Officer along with the Chapter President.
The Field Mobilizer will be responsible for the effective implementation of the project at the field level, coordinating with partners and stakeholders including government agencies, civil society organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities, children and young people with disabilities, and their parents/teachers. The role requires ensuring that project activities are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Officer in the preparation and implementation of the project activity plan at the field level.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating community-level youth leadership, SRHR and CSE sessions, orientations, workshops, and dialogues.
- Coordinate with OPDs, schools, health facilities, youth groups, and local stakeholders to ensure effective field implementation.
- Identify, engage, and support youth and SRHR champions and peer educators at the community level.
- Conduct community outreach and household visits to promote disability-inclusive practices including meaningful participation, SRHR information and services.
- Support the distribution and promotion of IEC materials in accessible formats.
- Mobilize children, young people, parents, teachers, health workers, and community members to participate in project activities, including community campaigning, SRHR and CSE sessions.
- Prepare and submit regular field-level progress reports, including activity summaries, participation data, photographs, and brief case stories.
- Support basic monitoring and documentation of project outputs and outcomes as guided by the Project Officer.
- Ensure safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical standards while working with children, young people, and marginalized communities.
- Provide logistical and coordination support for trainings, workshops, and field events.
- Perform other field-related tasks as assigned by the Project Officer and Chapter Office.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree completed or currently pursuing in Public Health, Social Science, Education, Development Studies, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience in community mobilization, youth engagement, social work, or development projects is preferred.
- Basic understanding of SRHR, CSE, youth issues, and disability inclusion; strong willingness to learn and apply knowledge in the field.
- Experience working with children, young people, and persons with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Ability to prepare simple field-level progress reports and maintain basic project records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse community members.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within project areas and work in field-based settings.
- Fluency in Nepali and basics in English is required; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
- Knowledge of sign language or accessible communication methods is an added advantage.
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and rights-based approaches.
