Position: Field Coordinator

Shangri-La Development Association (SDA) is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established by youth for community development in 2014 A.D. SDA has been making community interventions since the inception of the organization. To date, SDA has conducted Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative Project (SSLI, SSLI-I, SSLI-II, SSLI-III, SSLI-IV, SSLI-V), School Building Reconstruction and Education Support Project (SBRES), Shangri-La Reconstruction and Development Project (SRDP) and One Time Support Project (OTSP). All the other projects done were incorporated in such a way that it supports the SSLI project and strengthens the interventions.

Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative Project VI (SSLI 6) is a three-year project of the Shangri-La Association (SA), Switzerland / Govinda Association (GA), Germany, and SDA. The target project areas are Karnali Higher Secondary School, Anamnagar, Jumla, and Kailash Rural Municipality of Makwanpur district. SSLI primarily targets three wards of Kailash Rural Municipality in Makwanpur. Apart from these, 40 deaf children in Jumla are the targeted beneficiaries through Jumla Special Children Project (JSCP). These children come from all over Karnali Region as the school with the support of SDA has the best possible facilities and support.

Period of Employment: 1 year and extendable

Salary: 40,000 to 45,000 (Per Month)

Reports to: Coordinator

The project coordinator will be responsible for implementation of Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative- VI (SSLI 6) project. S/he will oversee the implementation of the project activities in Makwanpur district and JSCP project under SSLI 6 in Jumla District in coordination with JSCP Coordinator. The role will be responsible for implementing the project and monitoring the performance of field staff, managing relationships with stakeholders, including local government at the field level. The position will be responsible for the overall administrative work of the field office.

1.     Administrative Role:

  • Oversee the overall documentation and clerical work, such as maintaining database, records, payments, bills collection, and so on.
  • Maintain the proper and accurate leave records of respective staff members and communicate with Administration/HR for leave verification.
  • Ensure the field staff receive the job contract, and are aligned with the proper job description. 

2.     Programme Operations & Management:

  • Oversee the implementation of SSLI 6 project activities in Makwanpur and Jumla districts in coordination with local government.
  • Coordinate with program/project staff to ensure project activities in the project area are delivered based on SSLI outcomes areas.
  •  Coordinate with local governments, stakeholders, NGOs, and community partners to strengthen project impact.
  • Develop and maintain the Detail Implementation Guideline and ensure its understanding and implementation by relevant project staff.
  •  Provide regular support, mentorship, and follow-up for the implementation of project activities.
  •  Conduct regular field visits and participate in various training, workshops, and community-level events.

3.     Team Supervision & Capacity Building 

  • Supervise field staff, social mobilizers, and helpers.
  • Monitor, support, and guide field teams to ensure high-quality implementation of project activities.
  • Establish and strengthen the capacity of the team and stakeholders in monitoring and evaluation, program implementation, and timely reporting.
  • Prepare monthly budget advance requests and timely bill settlements.
  • Facilitate planning sessions, capacity building, and field-based advocacy activities.

4.     Planning, Monitoring & Reporting 

  • Prepare and submit quarterly and annual plans and progress reports.
  • Document case studies and success stories in coordination with the Communication Officer.
  •  Maintain accurate project data, validate achievements, and provide timely and correct updates.
  •  Facilitate capacity-building activities for the team in consultation with concerned team members.

5.    Project

  • Coach/mentor supervises, providing leadership/technical support to project staff as needed.
  • Ensure programmatic and financial accountability, tracking progress, and budget expenses.

6.     Relationship Building 

  • Map and identify potential partners (community-based groups, civil society organizations, and academe) for collaboration.
  • Establish and maintain active working relationships with local partners, local government units, and other NGOs in relevant thematic/geographic areas.
  • Implement/ support local advocacy activities aligned with the national policy agenda, engaging partners and supporting national advocacy efforts.

7.     Compliance and Coordination 

  • Assist in the formulation of annual performance objectives, aligning with work unit objectives.
  • Ensure project activities align with SDA policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, Anti- Corruption, and Safety and Security policies.

8.     Reporting and Coordination 

  • Periodically report, monitor, and facilitate the evaluation of all project components.
  • Prepare technical progress reports, ad hoc reports, and draft terms of reference for partnerships and consultants.
  • Coordinate and liaise with stakeholders, and national and non-government organizations for effective project implementation.
  • Ensure adherence to SDA rules and regulations for financial and administrative matters.
  • Take the lead in organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, training sessions, and meetings.

9.     Safety and Compliance 

  • Work closely with the Administration/HR to monitor the evolving safety and security situation in the project’s geographical location.
  • Ensure project operations comply with safety and security guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with more than 2 years of experience in the development sector

OR

  • Master’s degree in a related field with more than 1 year of experience in the development sector
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities.
