Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR) is an organization established with an objective to assess and understand the risk to contribute to sustainability. Complying with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction(SFDRR), IHRR envisions to understand the risk and application of interdisciplinary knowledge with Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation to contribute for risk reduction and bridging of academic research with professionals and policymakers for sustainability. The team consists of professionals with expertise and experiences in the field of disaster risk management in understanding the risk, conducting academic research, and field-level implementations in Nepal and different parts of the world.

Project: Digital and Spatial Technologies (DASTAA) for Anticipatory Action

Duration: Short-term assignment (December 2025 – January 2026)
Background
Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR) is implementing the Digital and Spatial Technologies for Anticipatory Action (DASTAA) project, which aims to strengthen disaster preparedness and early action through multi-hazard risk assessments, early warning systems, and data-driven planning.
As part of this project, IHRR will conduct sector-level risk and vulnerability assessments of education, health, agriculture and government infrastructure within Barbardiya Municipality. To support this activity, IHRR invites applications from qualified and motivated local youths to serve as Enumerators.

Scope of Work
Enumerators will be responsible for collecting sector-level data for risk and vulnerability assessments using digital tools. The assignment includes surveying approximately 400 sectors across the municipality.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting sector-level surveys for schools, health facilities, agriculture and government institutions
Using KoBo Toolbox on Android smartphones for data collection
Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of collected data
Uploading completed and verified surveys to the digital platform
Maintaining proper data collection logs and timesheets
Coordinating with field supervisors and the project data analyst during verification
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Age: 18 years and above
Residency: Must be from or residing within Barbardiya Municipality
Education: Minimum basic literacy (preference will be given to candidates with higher education)
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with Android smartphones only (iPhones are not supported)
Prior experience using KoBo Toolbox or similar digital data collection platforms is highly desirable
Basic digital literacy (GPS use, form filling, photo capture)
Prior experience using Google Earth will be an advantage
Language Skills: Ability to communicate in Nepali and local languages
Availability: Must be available for training and full data collection period during December, 2025 to January, 2026
Other Requirements:
Willingness to travel within assigned wards
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
Training
Selected enumerators will receive mandatory training on:
Survey tools and questionnaires
KoBo Toolbox data collection
Ethical data collection and informed consent
Use of GPS, photos, and data upload procedures
Only enumerators who successfully complete the training will be engaged for field data collection.
Compensation
Enumerators will be compensated based on the number of verified sector surveys completed
Estimated total surveys: ~400 sectors
Payments will be:
Made directly to individual bank accounts
Processed after data verification by the Data Analyst
Based on:
Validated data collection logs
Enumerator timesheets
Successful data uploads to the DASTAA platform
Supervision & Verification
All submitted data will be reviewed and verified by the Project Data Analyst
Incomplete, inaccurate, or unverified submissions will not be eligible for payment
