Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Electrical Engineer (Substation) to support the design and development of electrical systems for substations. Your work will include equipment layouts, grounding design, cable routing, AC/DC schematics, and coordination with protection and control teams.
You will work directly with engineers in the United States and help deliver accurate and reliable design packages that follow U.S. standards. This role is suitable for engineers who are detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable handling multiple tasks.
The successful candidate's role and compensation will be commensurate with their experience and qualifications, with opportunities for Lead or Senior positions for the candidates with extensive, relevant experience
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical designs for substations, such as equipment layouts, grounding plans, conduit layouts, and raceway systems.
- Develop and review one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment connection drawings.
- Perform electrical calculations, including grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, and short-circuit values.
- Assist with protection and control design, including relay panel layouts and control house plans.
- Use AutoCAD and other tools such as Revit, ETAP, SKM, CDEGS or similar (training can be provided).
- Review vendor and manufacturer drawings for transformers, breakers, switches, relays, batteries, and other substation equipment.
- Coordinate with Civil/Structural, Protection & Control, and other engineering teams to resolve design issues.
- Support construction teams by responding to RFIs, reviewing field photos, and checking as-built drawings.
- Manage design tasks, keep documents well organized, and communicate clearly with U.S.-based engineers.
- Be responsible for accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of electrical design work.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Power Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in substation or power system work.
- Understanding electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, CTs, PTs, relays, and battery systems.
- Basic knowledge of U.S. electrical standards (NESC, IEEE, NEC training provided).
- Good skills in AutoCAD. Knowledge of Revit is a plus.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, vendor documents, and technical specifications.
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
- Good problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and time management.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience in substation, transmission, or distribution projects.
- Familiarity with ETAP, SKM, CDEGS or other power system software.
- Understanding relay settings or protection coordination (optional but useful).
- Experience with BIM 360 or multidisciplinary project workflows.
- Knowledge of U.S. utility design practices.
