Kathmandu Animal Treatment Centre of Nepal, based in Budhanilkantha, is seeking qualified and interested Nepali citizen for the following vacant position. As a structured NGO, KAT Nepal addresses animal welfare issues directly. KAT Nepal receives no federal funding and is entirely funded by grants and private donations.

Position Title: Director

Summary:  KAT Nepal is currently looking for qualified candidate to fulfill the Director Role.

Education / Experience:

  • Grant writing and proposal creating 
  • Research in grants
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Passion for animal welfare; current working knowledge of companion animal care and adoption issues.
  • Experience with strategic and operational planning.
  • Understanding of fiscal management and accounting principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong public speaking skills.
  • Strong English both verbal and written.
  • Ability to set clear priorities, delegate and guide investment in people and systems; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills, which support and enable sound decision making.
  • Strong motivational skills, management skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide staff and community leadership.
  • Strong commitment to the professional development of staff and a successful record of recruiting and retaining a diverse team.
  • Ability to encourage staff to share ideas and take appropriate initiative.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to adapt to immediate or unforeseen challenges.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, particularly E-mail, the Internet, MS Word, and Excel;
  • QuickBooks experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency across multiple social media platforms.
  • Please note that the salary will increase by 36% once you pass the provision period of 6 months  according to the organization's law. 

Duties/Assignments:

This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned

additional duties by management as required.

  • Grant Writing and Researching on Grants 
  • Fundraising and creating fund raising events
  • Supervises staff, volunteer/community service personnel and inmates, including organizing, selecting, or recommending selection, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and terminating or recommending termination; prepares periodic employee performance evaluations.
  • Develops short and long range plans for the Shelter; oversees implementation of plans to ensure adherence to organizational standards, policy and procedures, and to make adjustments as needed.
  • Directs and manages daily Shelter operations, including the provision of routine and medical care for animals, the performance of euthanasia as needed, maintenance and cleaning of the facility, and the animal adoption process.
  • Oversees and assists with the provision of customer service to the public; provides information on the animal adoption process and foster care and educates staff and the public on humane treatment of animals; interacts with the community to promote positive animal welfare issues and recruit volunteers for the Shelter.
  • Develops, presents, and defends departmental budget requirements; oversees and approves expenditures, and prepares financial forms and reports; manages fundraising activities; prepare and write grants seeking funding.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the Shelter to ensure efficient an economical departmental operations; evaluates results to ensure compliance and to identify deficiencies.
  • Performs administrative functions, such as preparing routine and special reports for submission to the Boards, developing and administering training, or preparing periodic employee performance evaluations.
  • Conducts staff and other professional meetings to exchange information; attends technical or professional seminars or conferences to improve professional skills.
