JOB SUMMARY:

The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Program Director and will be responsible for the Monitoring & Evaluation Unit of International Medical Corps (IMC), Nepal program. Position is based in Kathmandu, Nepal with frequent visits to the field sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Information Management and Reporting

  • Responsible for generating internal and external reports according to the requirements for all areas as per the International Medical Corps, Government of Nepal and donor partner requirements.
  • Develop and manage the M&E information System in coordination with the M&E assistant and program team.
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining feedback mechanisms, both internal and beneficiary based of the program results for decision making and accountability.
  • 2. Coordination and liaison
  • Coordinate with interrelated departments within organization (finance, logistics, HR, admin and security, etc.) as required to ensure smooth implementation of activities related to monitoring of project implementation.
  • Coordinate with the program department/ respective project thematic lead on appropriate management of relevant data and monitoring report.
  • Liaise with implementing partners to coordinate field monitoring visits.
  • Contribute to design and conducting surveys and assessment to inform program strategy and approach.
  • Attend coordination meetings and work closely with other partners on M&E.

3. Monitoring & Technical Support

  • Contribute to establishing a reliable participatory M&E framework, and support the design of full M&E procedures and related plans.
  • Contribute to design and utilization of quality and comprehensive M&E tools, systems and procedures for the monitoring of program activities.
  • Contribute to systematic and continuous data collection and analysis on the progress of activities over time and monitor results in terms of timelines, quality, accuracy in line with the logical framework approaches (LFAs) best practice and project documents.
  • Contribute to building the capacity of staff through training, coaching and support for effective implementation of the M&E systems, including for information gathering, periodic reflection and analysis of program monitoring, data follow-up and post implementation monitoring within the Mission.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social or natural sciences, international relations, with emphasis on development issues or a related field.
  • Track record of planning, monitoring, and evaluation experience; experience of the specific program area associated with this post, such as areas of social, economic, environment and/or humanitarian spheres, program evaluation, coordination, or related fields is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural, teamwork, ability to maintain a positive working relationship with clients and colleagues with professionalism and integrity.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
