Three Civil overseer (M/F)
For Nepal based in Sindhupalchowk with frequent stay in project implementation site
For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.
MdM currently works in 46 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.
MDM has been working in Nepal since 1995 and is currently implementing a project in Sindhupalchowk District that aims at providing relief to populations affected by the earthquake.
TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Under the supervision of the Program Logistician he/she is in charge of assisting management of the mission regards construction/rehabilitation issues on field missions (Rehabilitation on health posts, Prefab installation…)
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Realize purchasing at the better prices and qualities and ensure to follow all purchase process (under MDM procurement process) specifically knowledge of market, local suppliers and materials for local constructions.
- Collaborate closely with the Purchase Logistic in Kathmandu and Rehabilitation Logistics Assistant in Chautara
- Assist the logistician for stock management of the construction stock and items.
- Assist and follow up construction/rehabilitation process
DETAILED ACTIVITIES
Purchasing
- In collaboration with the Purchase Logistic Assistant, you will be responsible for local purchasing of construction materials for the mission, upon instruction and under the supervision of the Rehabilitation logistician
- You will ensure that the suppliers fill in all receipts/invoices for local purchases correctly
- You will translate receipts/invoices written into English if necessary.
- You will not accept money, loans, credits, gifts, entertainment or commissions from past, present or future suppliers.
Stock management
- You will record and put away construction material and tools received, under the supervision of the Logistic Coordinator
- You will regularly check inventory levels (physical counts) of the construction stocks.
- After receipt, you will immediately update the stock cards, record the reference number of the receipt document, and put the goods away.
Construction/Rehabilitation
- You will support operational organization of field trips and MdM programs/activities
- Organize and help support the Rehab Log in managing organize construction work:
- Team management
- Relationship with local supplier
- Organize local transport of local material and people who work on the construction part
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Starting: As Soon As Possible
- Contract: Employee With fixed term contract until the 20/10/2015 (end of donor’s contract) / Full time
- Based in MDM areas of intervention in Sindhupalchowk
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
- Knowledge of Shindupalchowk area
- Knowledge of local culture and language
- Experience in light construction/rehabilitation
- Used to work with local material in remote area
- Able to manage a local team
- Autonomous
LANGUAGES: English is an asset
