Job Title: Chef Instructor

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Chef Instructor to lead and inspire our students in the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery program. The Chef Instructor will be responsible for teaching culinary techniques, supervising practical training, and providing guidance to students, ensuring they develop the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the culinary industry.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive culinary lessons, including practical cooking classes, demonstrations, and theory sessions. Ensure the delivery of the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery curriculum in line with industry standards and educational requirements.
  2. Practical Training: Supervise and mentor students in the practical application of culinary skills in a commercial kitchen environment. Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and support to help students improve their cooking techniques and culinary knowledge.
  3. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and review of course materials, lesson plans, and assessments to maintain program relevance and quality.
  4. Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments to evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on their progress.
  5. Participate in student evaluations, reviews, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  6. Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends, new culinary techniques, and best practices. Maintain certifications and qualifications necessary for teaching culinary courses.
  7. Safety and Hygiene: Enforce strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen.Train students in the importance of safety and cleanliness in a culinary environment.
  8. Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a professional chef with a minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial cookery.
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a relevant culinary qualification.
  • Teaching or training experience in a culinary setting is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent culinary skills and a deep understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong documentation skills. Familiar with Google-Suite 
  • Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • A commitment to promoting culinary excellence and fostering students' success.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and inspire students.
