Forum for Rural Welfare and Agricultural Reform for Development (FORWARD Nepal) is a national nongovernmental organization working in the areas of food system, livelihood enhancement, migration, psychosocial wellbeing, market system and value chain development, climate resilience, and community empowerment. With financial support from AWO International under the BMZ – Social Structure Fund, FORWARD Nepal is implementing the project “Empowering Migrants for Sustainable Economic Development (MEED)” in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, Chitwan District, Bagmati Province, Nepal. The project is being implemented from January 2026 to December 2028.

The project works closely with potential migrants, returnees, migrants’ families, youths, women, and marginalized communities by organizing them into community self-help groups, youth clubs, and networks, and supporting them through agriculture-based livelihood promotion, vocational skills, enterprise development, market linkage, institutional strengthening, and psychosocial support.

FORWARD Nepal is looking for experienced and qualified candidates for the following position. Interested and eligible Nepalese citizens are requested to apply for the position.

Position: Account Officer – One 

Job Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension

Duty Station: Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, Kurintar, Chitwan

Brief job descriptions

The Account Officer (AO) will be responsible for overall financial and administrative management of the project and accountable to ensure transparency and efficient cost-effective implementation. The position will be responsible for financial administration at the field level. Additionally, s/he has major responsibility to ensure professional accounting, timely financial reporting and support for audit of project accounts. Ensure financial compliance of both funding agencies and project partners. Provide logistic support for program & staffs.  

Required qualification, experience and skills.

  • At least Bachelor's degree in business studies and administration, or an equivalent discipline with 3 years of experiences in a relevant field, preferably in NGOs.
  • Should have good knowledge on prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Must be demonstrative to prepare vouchers and enter them in the books of accounts also prepare periodic Trial balance, bank reconciliation, income and expenditures, budget and expenses report for the project.
  • Have sound knowledge with the local/province/Nepal government tax laws and SSF.
  • Facilitate recruitment, procurement, staff movements and employee database maintenance.
  • Management of store inventory & periodic reporting.
  • Assist procurement committee in goods & services procurement process.
  • Must be able to run accounting software on computer and have demonstrative skills in financial management.
  • Review the financial documents and prepare a financial report and submit it to the Finance and Program team of AWO International and FORWARD Nepal as necessary.
  • Lead for financial planning of the project from the project office.
  • Adopt and ensure the compliance of the donor and FORWARD Nepal.
  • Valid driving license for two wheelers.
