Details / requirements:

Child Nepal (CN) in partnership with PlaneteEnfants and Developpment (PED) is implementing Better Future for Mother and Children (BFMC) Project in Gongabu area of Kathmandu. The project has three major flagship areas i.e. Gender Equality, ECD and Advocacy.  The project aims to work with mothers working in entertainment sector and their children with an objective to promote gender equality and protection women against exploitation and create a long-term conditions fostering an environment conducive to the development of young children

Mother Child Health Officer (MCHO) - 1 Position (Partial - 50% time)

Purpose: The MCHO will be responsible in regular health check-up of children and prescribe the apt health services and medicines required to children and mothers and provide the training / orientation sessions to the mothers on different areas such as SRH.

Term and Location: Fixed term employment till March 2018 based in Kathmandu with the possibility of extension.

Required Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Health Assistant (HA)/ANM/CMA plus bachelor in community health.
  • At least two year experience working in the relevant area.
  • Experience in preparing reports, design training and delivery etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the regular health screening of the children and mothers in the ECD centres and take remedial actions as required.
  • Provide information, support, advice and appropriate referrals relating to children and parents wellbeing, including health, immunization, breast feeding, antenatal and post-natal care. 
  • Provide a focus on prevention, early detection and intervention of the health and well-being concerns of vulnerable children and their parents through an interdisciplinary and integrated service response. 
  • Develop the sessions and facilitate to organize sessions related to SRH, HIV/ AIDS, STIs , hygiene and sanitation in the ECD centre to mothers
  • Promote and provide information and advice about vaccinating against preventable diseases 
  • Collaborate with local health posts and engage in supporting the government led health programs like vaccination and immunization 
  • Include the health status of each children in children’s profile in collaboration with ECD facilitators
  • Keep an update record of health condition of children coming to ECD centre and report to the program Coordinator
