POSITION TITLE: Junior Technical Specialist

LOCATION: Doti  

REPORTS TO: Project Coordinator

DURATION: Initially for 3 months, with possibility of extension until a year.

START DATE: As early as possible.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

PROJECT SUMMARY: 

The UKaid funded Rural Access Programme began in 1999 and now it is running in third phase, RAP3. The programme improves road access in remote areas and assists local people, especially the poor, to capitalize on new road-related opportunities. In RAP3, besides improving road access, it works in renewable energy sector as well. Winrock International as one of the delivery partner of RAP3 program works in renewable energy sector (Micro-Hydro, Solar PV applications, Improved Water Mills, Improved Cook Stoves, etc.) in 8 districts, namely Humla, Jumla, Mugu, Kalikot, Dailekh, Bajura, Achham & Doti.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Junior Technical Specialist Under the direction and supervision of the ProjectCoordinator, this position is responsible for managing field based activities in four districts (Doti, Achham, Bajura and Humla) based at Silgadhi, Doti.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for monitoring & supervision of project activities in four districts. (Doti, Bajura, Achham & Humla)
• Provides technical input in 4 districts.
• Conduct training and train various stakeholders on the technical aspects of Renewable Energy Technologies development including the safety and precautionary measures in handling the electricity.
• Supervise the procurement, construction, installation, operation and maintenance of different Renewable Energy Technologies at local communities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil or Agriculture) 
• Experience: Minimum two years’ experience in renewable energy sector preferably in Micro-Hydro, Improved Water Mill. Experience in report writing.

COMPETENCIES:

• Experience in implementing, managing, supervising, coordinating and monitoring energy projects.
• Fluent in English both reading and writing.
• Dynamic individual capable of working with a diverse group of stakeholders including the private sector.
• Have knowledge about Renewable Energy sector of Nepal.
• Ability to work smoothly and effectively with others in a team to meet the organization’s objectives; comfortable in a multicultural setting
• Impact and result orientation: Proactive approach for the smooth organization of internal processes; ability to work independently (self-motivated and disciplined) and to take initiative
