Expression of Interest 

The project entitled `Up-scaling the production and consumption of bio-energy to reduce carbon emissions and enhance local employment in Nepal` is being jointly implemented  by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation and 4 other partners namely; International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bio resources (ANSAB), Sustainable Technology Adaptive Research and Implementation Centre, Nepal (STARIC/N),and Winrock International with the support of the European Union under its Switch Asia Programme. Bioenergy project has been working in 16 districts of Nepal namely; Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavreplanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Dhadhing, Nuwakot, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts. 

Bioenergy Project has envisioned to recruit the consultant service on the following categories; 

a. IT-Tool Development to Handle Sales and Support Carbon Credit Calculation,

The project has been working with private sectors for the promotion of charcoal and charcoal based products along with value chain strengthening. Therefore to easeanalysing the material flow from producer to consumer via collection centre and/or processing unit to consumer, an IT-basedhandling tool has been envisioned. This IT tool will be developed to handle sales (order, store, delivery and collection) of its business as well as maintain a record of the carbon credit it earns with each transaction.

b. Technology Localisation for the Carbonized Biomass Fuel densification 

With the proper information on potential use of the densifiedcarbonised biomass fuel had encourage the varities of briquette producers, thus promoting the utilization of densified products reducing usage of raw fuel wood replacement of imported fuel in SME’s and industrial sector. In this context, bioenergy project envisioned to localize the densification technology producing the suitable carbonised biomass fuel like pillow briquette of different size to promote and strengthen this energy sector.
