Gorkha Gaun Resort was born out of a dream to create a place of retreat in a small gaun (village) environment. Using local resources our team works to provide a space to relax while ensuring the sustainable development of the local community. As an initiative to Responsible Tourism, Gorkha Gaun generates most of its electrical energy from solar panels, has plans for its own waste water treatment and water recycling systems, harvesting bio-gas, harvesting and recharging rain water. Gorkha Gaun has total of 16 rooms in operation with restaurant/bar and outdoor seating. Our total team members will be around 20 – 25 during our full operation period. Our Vision is to be recognized as one of the best resorts (in our category of resorts) in Nepal by 2020. We try to take sustainable approach in everything we do. We believe in responsible tourism and our overall focus to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle concept is in built into our Vision. Waiter / Bar Associate – 1 based in Gorkha 

Job Description

Making guests feel comfortable and welcomed at a restaurant really makes all the difference.   It is your responsibility to make each guest feel welcomed and comfortable.  These are basic requirements for Waite/Bar Associate. You will be expected to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Restaurant/Bar Inventory management plan in coordination with management. You will be required to accurately and completely take food and beverage orders, efficiently serve food in coordination with kitchen team and beverages to customers and attend to customers' needs

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with management, prepare and Implement Restaurant/Bar Operation Guidelines (SOP) 
  • In coordination with management prepare and implement Restaurant/Bar Inventory Management Plan 
  • Able to work and coordinate with other servers and be a team player.
  • Coordinate with the Kitchen team and ensure that food is delivered on time and of quality 
  • Coordinate with kitchen team to plan for required  inventory before the arrival of guests 
  • Have a sound knowledge of beer, wine and general liquor 
  • Have workable knowledge in preparing mixed alcoholic (cocktail) and non-alcoholic (mock tail) beverages 
  • Able to learn menu items and be able to describe them appropriately to guests.
  • Able to deliver as a good server by checking in  with guests to ensure that everything is going well, clearing dirty dishes from table, Refilling  beverages throughout the meal etc. 

Requirements: 

  • School Leaving Certificate (10th grade) or High School (10+2) 
  • 2-year degree from an accredited college in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or relevant subject will be an added value 
  • 2-3 years of professional experience as a server/waiter/bar associate in a restaurant or resort set up   
  • working knowledge of standard drink recipes
  • Able to work later hours 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali 
  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel and email will be an added value 

Salary and Benefits: 

  • Starting salary will depend upon the experience and qualification 
  • 6 month probation 
  • After probation review, Dashain Bonus and other benefits will be applicable
