Emergency Medical Services - Training Officer

Medical Teams International is the USA based non-profit humanitarian aid and global health organization. Medical Teams International has mobilized 2,000 medical aid teams since 1979 Medical Teams International begun health related interventions shortly after the disaster in late April 2015. The EMS project will be directly implemented by MTI with partnership of Ministry of Health (MoH) and District Health Office (DHO), Dhading district. The project duration is from 2016 to December, 2018.

Reports to: EMS Project Manager

Employment term: 3 years contract

Location: Dhading 

JOB SUMMARY: EMS Training Officer, is responsible to provide technical support to EMS project for ensuring high quality of implementation and outcomes. Delivering MToT training to the trainees. Assisting in developing EMS curriculum. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical input to Emergency Medical Supplies Authority (EMSA) development; 
  • Assist in development of EMS curriculum, and standard operational guidelines; 
  • Contributing in development of First Responders (FR) and EMT (Emergency Medical Technicians) training package;
  • Assessing EMS training needs and requirements for development or coordination of delivery;
  • Conducting EMS related baseline survey or case study upon need basis
  • Preparing periodical report and submitting to data management section with annual trackers 
  • Instructing, or coordinating required EMS training;
  • Being a resource and point of contact for inquiries;
  • Deal tactfully and effectively with a wide variety of EMS personnel, government officials, civic groups, publics, district staff; and community locals. 
  • Deliver Master Training of Trainers (MToT) training and submitting the evaluation report on time
  • Assist Project Manager in establishing EMS system including Emergency Response Cooperative (ERC). ;
  • Conduct project reviews and assessments for ensuring high quality of implementation;
  • Establishing strong coordination and networking with related agencies and partners for smooth operation of EMS project
  • Establishing a functional Emergency Response Cooperative compliance with government rules in Dhading district
  • Assisting in conducting of periodical review and planning meeting related to EMS training and projects 
  • Assisting in developing ERC operational guidelines in coordination with target members and line agencies 
  • Preparing analytical report of trainings and developing alternatives to accomplish intended activities on time. 
  • Provide suggestions and comments for successful execution and better outcomes of the project;

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in related field;
  • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Medical Teams International;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant position;
  • Presentation skills and ability to effectively facilitate training sessions;
  • Excellent English language skills and computer application of spread sheet
  • Experience in the development of EMS training programs and experiences in effective employee training;
  • Willingness and desire to personally obtain / enhance EMS Education;
  • Prior NGO or INGO Experience;
  • Willing to travel and stay overnight at the project site;
