We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented professional for the Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA) for the following position:

POSITION: Research Associate

Reference No: N16621

Works station: Far West/Mid-West Region

Qualification: PhD in Agricultural Sciences or Master’s degree with at least 7 years of experience in Cropping Systems.

The candidate will be responsible for coordinating project activities in the region and supervising and managing day-to-day activities of staff associated with the project. He/She also will be responsible for working with project and objective leads to develop and reline project plans. The candidate will also be responsible for developing sustainable partnerships among the multiple public and private sector entities in the seed. crop management and mechanization sectors for the purpose of scaling out technologies.

Position Title: Research Associate

Project: Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia in Nepal (CSISA-NP), Scaling project

Date: February 2016

The major activities of this position include:

  • Supervising and managing day-to-day activities of staff associated with CSISA-NP in the relevant project sites/region.
  • Ensuring frequent communication with other senior staff to work together in a highly collaborative mode that assures common understanding shared learning of what works and what doesn’t and a systematic and coordinated approach across project activities 
  • Working with project and objective leads to develop and refine/revise seasonal and annual work plans
  • Visiting project sites very frequently and both directing and conducting all aspects of activities.
  • Conducting needs analysis for target region via field visits assessing in developing and conducting surveys, participatory appraisals.
  • Catalyzing sustainable partnership among the multiple public and private sector entities in seed, management and mechanization sector for scaling out the technologies in the larger community.
  • Coordinating efforts to raise awareness about the project activities, products, and outcomes among stakeholders, policy makers and general public, project related communications and outputs including news and updates, photos and videos.
  • Conducting farmers’ infield demonstrations, field days, and trainings on seed, best management and mechanization and related technological issues
  • Assisting monitoring and evaluation and reporting efforts by providing quality inputs and report in timely manner (every month).
  • Contribute to semi-annual and annual donor reports, indicator numbers, success stories, and other reporting, M&E and communications products
  • Following best practices for data collection at hub such that data are organized, managed, stored and archived in accordance with donor and CIMMYT norms ensuring that clean, good quality clearly labeled data sets and information are sent to the project lead.
  • Following and strictly enforcing prescribed communication norms at hubs using agreed upon tools (email website etc.)
  • Undertaking other related tasks as needed to advance project goals.
