JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a part of the multi-disciplinary team, the physiotherapist will be responsible to conduct PT (physiotherapy) treatment sessions at the PT step down unit located in the premises of the Gorkha District Hospital and the mobile physiotherapy camps in the VDCs, by following International Medical Corps' standard operating protocols/procedures for physiotherapy service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

As a part of a multi-disciplinary team, the physiotherapist will be responsible to conduct following duties and responsibilities, through the static physiotherapy step down facility (PT Unit) and mobile physiotherapy camps (MPTU) in Gorkha district by following International Medical Corps' standard operating protocols and procedures:

  • Assess the effect of disability, injury, illness and inactivity on functional ability and provide necessary treatment(physio services) in consultation with senior physiotherapists, by using range of treatment options (exercise, movement, electrotherapy, mobilisation etc.)
  • Keeps the physiotherapy unit documents in order & ensure that patient record are accurately transcribed to the electronic data register, prior of being submitted to M&E (monitoring and evaluation) unit.
  • Perform regular checks and maintain log book for the PT equiments and ensure the equipments are in working order.
  • Assess the unit for appropriate PT equipment/supplies and initiate procurement request (order) as needed.
  • Maintain coordination with relevant government stakeholders at district and the local level for the conduction of mobile camps.
  • Maintain and update referral network and linkages with agencies working with injury and disability prevention and rehabilitation sector and hospitals and provides referral services (both inward and outward) as per the need of the patient.
  • Performs other tasks assigned by Field Site Manager (FSM) and Health Program Manager (HPM) and keeps them abreast of daily activities and updates.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
  • Licensed as required by the governing body of physiotherapists in Nepal.
  • Minimum two years of experience based in hospital or rehabilitation unit setting.
  • Fluency in english and good command on basic microsoft office package is preferred.
