People in Need (PIN) is an international non-governmental organization headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic. PIN has worked in over 40 countries in relief, development and human rights and democracy support projects for the last 20 years. PIN is a member of the Alliance 2015 – a European INGO Network. After the earthquake in Nepal in April 2015, PIN joined the emergency response to support the most highly earthquake affected communities in Nepal.

PIN currently invites applicants for the position of: Logistics Assistant

REPORTING TO: Head of Systems and Operations

DURATION:  May / June 2017 to November 2017 (6 months) with a possibility of extension

PLACE OF ASSIGNMENT:  Gorkha District (Arughat, with travel to the field sites)

STARTING DATE: May/June 2017

Job Description:       

Working as part of a wider logistics team, the Logistics Assistant will be responsible for undertaking local procurement and purchases, helping to maintain the office and undertaking a range of logistical administrative tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • undertaking local procurement and purchasing activity, including sourcing quotations from nominated supplier and undertaking market surveys and price research
  • completing, filing and scanning logistics documents each week
  • receiving and checking goods into the Arughat warehouses and completing goods received nots and checking supplier waybills
  • quality checking of all goods received against technical specifications
  • preparing goods for dispatch to district warehouses, including waybills, dispatch notes and updating stock cards and inventory registers
  • managing the day to day maintenance and upkeep requirements of the office and warehouse
  • supporting the work of the Field Logistician as directed
  • Other tasks as required

  • excellent attention to detail
  • good organizational skills
  • motivated and committed
  • good English language skills
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel and Word desirable.
