Build Change started its work in Aceh, Indonesia, after the 2004 earthquake and tsunami, and since has expanded to include programs in China, Haiti, Colombia, Guatemala, the Philippines and Nepal. Build Change has trained more than 25,300 people on earthquake-resistant design and construction techniques, guided 31 organizations in using homeowner-driven design, created almost 12,000 jobs and provided technical assistance for more than 48,700 safer buildings, impacting an estimated 245,026 people. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Build Change is currently seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Impact Monitoring & Communications Officer. This position requires a highly organized and competent professional for the smooth and effective functioning of Monitoring, Evaluation and Communication under the direct supervision of Country Director.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Establish, expand and improve, with the support of the Nepal Country Director, the impact monitoring systems for Build Change’s technical assistance and training programs in Nepal
  • Develop an overall monitoring, evaluation and reporting framework for Build Change’s Nepal program, including development of metrics dashboard
  • Identify capacity needs and build capacity of Build Change’s Nepal team to execute stratege
  • Recruit and mentor required IMR staff
  • Create and implement a comprehensive monitoring, evaluation and reporting strategy for Nepal program
  • Take into account the usage of innovative technologies such as mobile devises, tablets, drones and cloud-based databases & maps
  • Compile baseline for Build Change’s Nepal program
  • Craft, in collaboration with the Country Director, a post-program impact evaluation strategy to assess long-term impacts (including indirect impacts) of Build Change’s work
  • Quantify cost per impact
  • Liaise with Partnership and Reporting Manager to report data to shelter sector coordinator, project partners, and local and provincial government counterparts
  • Liaise with Partnership and Reporting Manager to development success stories, promotional videos, and other fund and partnership development collateral and regularly interface with HQ staff for dissemination of such materials through website, social media, and other channels
  • Mentor program staff to interview builders and homeowners, take photographs and write stories for reports and Build Change website
  • Support Nepal Country Director in setting-up mixers, media and other public relations events.
  • Support Nepal Country Director in liaising with the press and in issuing newsletters, web and social media communications about the Build Change’s activities in Nepal.
  • Perform other duties as requested

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication & Journalism or related field
  • At least 3 years of progressive working experience in similar areas
  • Good planning and coordinating skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and  work efficiently under time pressure
  • Strong communication, analytical, reporting and organizational skill
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Nepali
