Action Nepal is seeking candidates who demonstrates developed communication and influencing skills, excellent knowledge of area of work and increasingly contribute to team planning, proactively assumes more responsibility and/or more difficult areas of work in agreement with manager.

Action Nepal partnership with OXFAM is seeking dynamic energetic and result oriented professionals for the following positions to intervene WaSH, SHELTER, EFSVL,DRR and GENDER Project in 2 VDCs (Satyadevi and Tripureswor) of Dhading district.

Gender Officer 

Duration :6 months (renweable)

Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in development studies, social studies.

Report To: Project coordinator

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION/ KEY RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Provide the specialist gender and protection advice and support to Action Nepal /Oxfam earthquake response in Dhading ensuring independence and impartiality in providing services;
  • Work with humanitarian field teams to ensure access of women at risk and vulnerable to Action Nepal /Oxfam’s response, recovery and rehabilitation work;
  • Work within the WASH, EFSVL, shelter and DRR teams including MEAL as a team member to better mainstreaming the gender and protection concerns from a programmatic perspective, taking into account the needs of men, women, girls and boys;
  • Build the capacity of women within the community to promote their meaningful participation and leadership role in different forums and committees in the communities through partner;
  • Lead in integrating gender and protection into MEAL; set specific indicator for process monitoring and follow up, advise team in getting gender specific information through spot monitoring and joint monitoring;
  • Ensure knowledge management; documentation of  gender and protection related documents, case study and best practices;
  • Ensure sex , age and caste based disaggregating data are collected through all the thematic areas and documented; for example, snapshot of district;

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:  

Professional skills and qualification needed in the position 

  • Bachelor's degree in development studies, social studies or relevant discipline with 2 years of experience;
  • Knowledge of gender and gender equality;
  • Experience in field coordination, monitoring and follow up;
  • Experience in event management and coordination;
  • Highly skilled in report writing;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Nepali including demonstrable ability to work with others and as part of a team;
  • Knowledge and skills in computer usage including word, excel, power point, and social media;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Effective member of team and role model; demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards.
  • Takes responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including some leadership);
  • Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions.

Personal qualifications needed in the position

  • Committed to rights based and gender sensitive work, committed and with strong social mobilization skills and sanitation and hygiene knowledge
