Communication Officer

One Heart World-Wide (OHW) Nepal is an INGO working in the field of Maternal and Child Health.OHW Nepal is seeking to recruit a qualified Nepali Citizen for the position of Communications Officer.

Communication Officer: Full-time position based in Kathmandu with need to make field visits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Country Representative, the Communications Officer is responsible for developing, coordinating, managing and implementing media blueprints, and corresponding, coordinating and sharing all media relevant messaging with the headquarters prior to release.The Communications Officer is to provide all relevant information on the progress of the OHW programs in Nepal on a regular basis for marketing and communication purposes of OHW worldwide.

• Research, develop, coordinate and share all OHW program related progress details with the San Francisco headquarters as to be able to produce program relevant communication narratives on OHW worldwide.
• Collect, prepare and review case and program narratives from mothers, families, volunteers, partners, local communities, agencies and government officials.
• Ensure the appropriateness, consistency and quality of case and program narratives and other communication blueprints that are collected, prepared and reviewed prior to disseminating to the San Francisco headquarters, and prior to final release.
• Ensure accurate and rapid information dissemination to the Nepalese senior management as well as the San Francisco headquarters prior to release to media, NGOs, the field and other appropriate audiences.
• Draft and edit communication materials such as press releases and other corporate communication materials for signature by Nepalese senior management and San Francisco headquarters.
• Support all case and program narratives with emotive pictures and visuals.
• Coordinate and respond to media queries in a timely and effective manner.
• Assist with OHW events and launches.
• Assist with and prepare OHW responses to culturally and politically controversial situations and negative press media coverage.
• Assist with and coordinate with government counterparts the development and appropriate use of communication for social development aimed at both individual behavior change and collective action. Provide technical support as required.
• Assist and coordinate social media outreach with San Francisco headquarters.
• Update Nepalese senior management on what information is provided to the San Francisco headquarters.
• Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor degree in communication or journalism. Higher degrees preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience in relevant field including photography and filming.
• Very good reading and writing skills both in Nepali and English.
