PHASE Nepal is a non-governmental, organization established in 2006 with a vision to build a self-empowered and self-sustained society where all kinds of discrimination are absent (please visit www.phasenepal.org for more information). PHASE Nepal’s health, education, livelihoods and research projects are currently running across various rural communities in Nepal. With support from Himalayan Development Foundation Australia (HDFA), PHASE Nepal is implementing education project in two government schools in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality in Taplejung district with the aim of improving quality of education in close collaboration with the Municipality. 

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a good academic background and experienced teaching/mentoring aiming to improve the quality of education.

Position: Teacher

Number of positions: Three (English-1, Mathematics-1, and Science-1) 

Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension

Start date: 1st December 2025 

Duty Station: Saraswati Chyabruk Secondary School and Sinwa Secondary School, Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, Taplejung district, Nepal

Note: The salary mentioned above is the maximum gross amount for this position. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Candidates with moderate experience and skills may be offered a salary within the approved range, which could be lower than the maximum.

DELIVERABLE GOALS: MAIN TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide in-class mentoring and support to respective subject teachers teaching English, Science, and Mathematics (Grades 4–10).
  • Groom, mentor, and train the teachers of Saraswati Chyabruk Secondary School and Sinwa Secondary School to strengthen teaching practices and classroom delivery following student centered activity-based teaching methods.
  • Take classes on where appropriate, especially when subject teachers are absent to demonstrate effective teaching methodologies and support student learning.
  • Support integration skills such as but not limited to, Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication — in classroom teaching.
  • Assist in preparing lesson plans, session plans, developing innovative teaching materials, and creating engaging learning environments.
  • Facilitate academic and co-curricular activities to promote holistic student development.
  • Maintain student assessment records and report progress to school stakeholders.
  • Support implementation of the School Improvement Plan under the supervision of the Principal and SMC.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with school staff, parents, and local stakeholders for continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and discussions to enhance teaching quality.
  • Promote digital learning and child-friendly, inclusive classroom practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or school leadership.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/ REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Master’s degree in Education (preferred), specializing in English, Mathematics, Science; a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in secondary education, with a strong understanding of subject-specific pedagogy and classroom practices. Experience in rural or under-resourced settings will be an advantage.
  • Deep understanding of child psychology, classroom management, and effective curriculum delivery.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and communication technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, adaptable, and willing to work in rural areas with minimal facilities.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching, mentoring, and continuous professional development.

Other benefits

PHASE Nepal will provide accidental insurance of NRs. 20,00,000/- for employee and medical insurance of NRs. 2,25,000/- that covers the employee and his/her up to 2 dependent family members.
