Position summary
We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience and a bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering to work on residential & commercial building projects in the USA. The role involves design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures, including framing, connections, and building codes of compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for residential and commercial buildings, including wood framing, connections, reinforced concrete and masonry elements and foundations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. building codes for structures, including IBC, IRC, NDS, ASCE 7, ACI 318 etc.
- Develop and maintain analysis models using software like SAP2000, ETABS, ForteWEB, Enercalc, Simpson Strong Tie and other relevant software; prepare and coordinate Revit models and BIM deliverables in BIM 360.
- Produce and review AutoCAD/ Revit drawings, shop drawings, and detailed construction documents; prepare Excel-based calculations and schedules.
- Verify wood and steel connection design and detailing using software or hand calculations.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve design interface issues.
- Support construction phase activities, including responding to technical clarifications and site queries when required.
- Manage deadlines, project tasks, and keep all work organized.
- Help mentor Junior engineers and review their work.
Required qualifications & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant structural engineering experience (Residential wood project experience preferred).
- Proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, and general structural analysis workflows.
- Practical understanding of steel, wood (framing & connections), concrete, and masonry design.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn U.S. codes for residential construction, including IBC, IRC NDS, ASCE 7 and ACI 318.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Good organization, time management, and ability to handle multiple projects.
Preferred / nice-to-have
- Direct experience with U.S. Residential & Commercial building projects.
- Experience reviewing or producing construction documents and detailing drawings.
- knowledge of steel detailing for building projects.
- Familiarity with additional software (RISA 3D, ForteWEB, Enercalc, Simpson Strong Tie or advanced Revit/BIM workflows, BIM 360).
- Familiarity with U.S. company design standards.
- Applicants with advanced qualifications and greater experience will be prioritized and may be offered a senior role.
