As defined by the VISION 2025, a strategic guidance, Shechen Karuna Nepal has been working in three regions Terai, Mid-Hills and High-Hills (mountains) in five inter-connected thematic sectors; Health, Education, Food security, Economic Development and Environment.

Shechen Karuna is a reputable Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to contributing to reducing poverty through altruism in action philosophy. As we expand our operations, we are seeking a dynamic, experienced and self-motivated individual for the following position.
1) Position: Program Coordinator, Ruby Valley and Khaniyabas Rural Municipalities, Dhading (1)
Duty Station: Ruby Valley Field Office, Dhading
Reports to: Director of Programs
Contract Type: Fixed term
Duration: 1 year
General responsibilities:
The role of the Program Coordinator will focus on overall management and coordination of the program at Ruby Valley and Khaniyabas Rural Municipalities, Dhading, including supervision and guidance of activities implemented by field staffs, users’ committee, standard accounting, reporting on the use of program funds, and coordinating the monitor visits by the MEAL Department to track the achievement of results.
Specific roles and responsibilities:
Project Implementation:
- Ensure effective implementation of the planned activities & budget as stipulated in the detail implementation plan and phased budget, and provide guidance and support.
- Work in close collaboration/coordination with Program Managers at central level (Education and Environment; Health & Hygiene and Food Security & Economic development) to maximize impact and roll out integrated interventions.
- Coordinate with line manager for technical assistance for smooth & quality interventions.
- Support field level staffs to ensure that set standard of the project are met and followed up according to Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
- Identify program supplies needs and coordinate with the logistics team to develop a practical phased procurement plan.
- Mentor and provide backstopping support to field staffs in all the thematic areas and ensure the interventions is carried as per quality benchmark and project documents.
Field Staff Management
- Supervise field staff and provide timely supervision and guidance to field staff for smooth functioning of Programs, Finance, HR, Operation of the field Office.
- Liaise with the Head of Programs and Human Resource Department for training, problem solving, issues and other needs as they arise.
- Coach, train, counsel, and advise to field staff.
- Coordinate routinely of field staff to ensure effective and timely function and teamwork.
- Support and supervise field staff to plan and implement project activities, and take corrective action when required.
Coordination, Collaboration and Networking in the field: en
- Maintain functional coordination and relation with both Rural Municipalities, other line agencies, district stakeholders and ensure Shechen Karuna’s visibility
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, and ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution
- Assess project risks and issues and collaborate with the field staff and Project Managers to provide solutions where applicable.
- Liaison with central office and field office on the progress, challenges and way forward to ensure smooth implementation of the project activities and staff mobilization.
Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation:
- Ensure the field staffs provide analytical insights on project reports and quality reports of the project are produced
- Provide necessary information assistance to Program Managers for quality project reports
- Regular field visit and ensure the project is implemented as quality benchmark.
- Prepare reports based on the innovative approaches, best practices, lessons learned, and case studies and shared at appropriate levels
- Support to Program Manager to incorporate the key learning in upcoming plans and interventions
- Contribute in the preparation of best practices and project documentation documented
- Prepare monthly progress report and submit timely to line manager
- Facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members
- Coordinate field monitoring visits of MEAL Department.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Development Studies, Public Health, Education, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of multisectoral experience in at least one of the following sectors: Health and Hygiene, Education, Food Security, Economic Development, and Environment.
- Proven experience in organizing training, workshops, and awareness campaigns at
- community and institutional levels.
- Experience in coordination with government stakeholders, schools, and community-based organizations.
Competencies
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to plan, implement, and monitor multiple activities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
- Willingness to travel frequently to rural and remote areas.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Capacity to build and maintain effective working relations with local authorities and other
- relevant stakeholders in local level.
- Good command of English and Nepali language (written and spoken)
- Preference to the understanding of local languages
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet.
2) Position: MEAL Officer, Ruby Valley (1)
Duty Station: Ruby Valley Field Office, Dhading
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Contract Type: Fixed term
Duration: 1 year
General responsibilities:
Reporting to the Program Coordinator and MEAL Expert, you will be responsible for implementing the MEAL plan of Shechen Karuna and carrying out MEAL activities such as data collection, organization, entry, analysis, and dissemination at the field level. Your primary focus will be on monitoring the implementation of activities. Additionally, you will be the focal person for the online database management of Shechen Karuna.
Specific roles and responsibilities:
Implementation of the MEAL Plan
- Conduct data collection at the field level with the beneficiaries
- Conduct data verifications and cleaning by working together with the program team
- Analyze data and produce reports that highlight key findings, trends, and recommendations for program improvement.
- Collect and document case studies, lessons learned, and best practices and conduct beneficiary tracking as per the online system of Shechen Karuna.
- Conduct field visits for data validation and to monitor the quality and completeness of data sets and implementation
- Prepare Monthly and yearly reports and share them with the team on a timely.
- After monitoring visits, compile monitoring findings and prepare reports to share with the project team.
- Support SWC and MEAL departments to initiate and conduct project evaluation – baseline, midline, and endline.
- Maintain the KPIs, database, and other monitoring tools to demonstrate the effectiveness of project interventions. Generate indicator reports for tracking progress against key indicators.
- Any other tasks related to the field of engagement, experience, and expertise as and when required by the organization and assigned by the supervisor.
Capacity Building
- Directly support project staff in any capacity on using the online data collection platform and using the MEAL tools and template.
- Regular MEAL skill sharing with project staff.
- Ensure colleagues are trained and competent in the use of Shechen Karuna MEAL plan.
Learning, Networking & Co-ordination
- Coordinate and Cooperate with the program staff and relevant stakeholders at the field level.
- Regular updates on target vs achievement with local government and the relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct quarterly program performance reviews and learning sessions with program staff and other stakeholders and monitor implementation of actions.
- Support in conducting research/survey of thematic potential areas.
- Develop learning documents from the results of MEAL evaluations/studies as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor degree or above preferably in Public Health/Statistics/ Development Studies / Economics /Any other relevant social science discipline. Additional Master’s Degree in any development field is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 (two) years demonstrated experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation with reputed organizations, preferably with NGOs/INGOs.
- Knowledge on both qualitative and quantitative research methods; study methodology, Tools for capturing knowledge and learnings, MEAL tools and techniques, and application of computer software (MS Office) is required.
- Excellent analysis and writing analytical quality report skill; Knowledge and use of Mobile data collection ODK, Kobo and Survey CTO is required.
- Good communication skills and experience to work with community; pro- activeness, positive attitude and professional integrity is required as well.
