JOB DESCRIPTION – MID-LEVEL ACCOUNT OFFICER

Job Purpose
To support day-to-day accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, managing receivables and payables, supporting banking activities, and ensuring proper financial documentation.
1. Daily Accounting
- Prepare and verify accounting vouchers.
- Record and post accounting transactions accurately and timely.
- Verify invoices and supporting documents.
- Manage petty cash and maintain proper records.
- Ensure transactions are properly coded and authorized.
2. Receivables
- Maintain customer receivable records.
- Follow up on outstanding customer balances and collections.
- Prepare and monitor receivable ageing.
- Report overdue balances to the Finance Manager.
3. Payables
- Verify vendor bills and supporting documents.
- Prepare payment requests and supporting schedules.
- Maintain supplier ledgers and reconcile supplier statements.
- Follow up on outstanding vendor balances.
4. Banking
- Prepare bank deposits and deposit slips.
- Maintain bank transaction records.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
- Support timely resolution of unreconciled items.
5. Inventory Support
- Assist in physical stock verification.
- Maintain inventory-related financial records.
- Support material costing and valuation.
- Report inventory discrepancies to the Finance Manager.
6. Documentation & Audit Support
- Maintain proper filing of accounting and financial documents.
- Ensure supporting documents are complete and properly organized.
- Provide documents and schedules required for internal and external audits.
- Assist the Finance Manager in resolving audit queries.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- High accuracy of accounting vouchers and entries.
- 100% timely and accurate bank reconciliation.
- Zero avoidable documentation errors.
- Timely follow-up of receivables and payables.
- Accurate supplier and customer ledger reconciliation.
- Proper and timely filing of financial documents.
- Timely submission of required accounting schedules.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Practical knowledge of accounting software and MS Excel.
- Good understanding of basic accounting, VAT/TDS, banking, and reconciliations.
- Experience in inventory accounting will be an advantage.
- Good attention to detail and documentation skills.
