Saathi is a national non-governmental organization working to promote gender equality, prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV), and empower women and girls in Nepal since 1992. For over three decades, Saathi has championed rights-based, survivor-centered, and gender-transformative approaches in collaboration with government and civil society partners.

Position Summary:

Saathi is seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance and Operations Manager to join our team. The Finance and Operations Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and play a critical leadership role in overseeing Saathi’s financial systems, operational procedures, donor compliance, and internal controls. 

This position is key to ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability, efficiency in operations, and accountability to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial expertise, operational leadership, and a deep commitment to gender equality and social justice.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning & Budgeting

  • Lead the development and management of annual and project-based budgets in collaboration with program teams.
  • Monitor budget utilization and prepare financial forecasts for strategic decision-making.
  • Support cost efficiency measures across the organization.

2. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) to management and donors.
  • Ensure full compliance with Nepali financial laws, tax regulations, donor requirements, and audit standards.
  • Coordinate statutory and project-based audits, ensuring timely response to findings and recommendations.

3. Accounting & Fund Management

  • Supervise day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using FAMAS accounting software.
  • Ensure transparent fund allocation and tracking across multiple donor projects.

4. Operations & Administrative Oversight

  • Oversee the execution of ongoing projects and ensures alignment with organizational goals and donor expectations.
  • Streamline processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement operational improvements to enhance productivity.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and administrative systems to ensure cost-effective and compliant operations.
  • Ensure that organizational policies and systems support effective program delivery and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate logistics, assets, and facilities management.

5. Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Develop and implement robust financial and operational controls to prevent fraud and inefficiencies.
  • Identify financial and operational risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with Saathi’s financial, HR, and procurement policies.

6. Donor & Grant Management

  • Oversee financial reporting and audits for donor-funded projects.
  • Collaborate with program teams during grant proposal development and budgeting.
  • Ensure donor compliance throughout the grant cycle.

7. Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Supervise and mentor the finance and operations team.
  • Build staff capacity in financial literacy, donor compliance, and operational systems.
  • Facilitate internal trainings on financial policies and systems across departments.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree or CA/ACCA partly qualified preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial and operational management, preferably in the NGO/INGO sector
  • Strong command of FAMAS or other financial software and Microsoft Excel
  • In-depth knowledge of Nepali financial laws, taxation, procurement, and audit practices
  • Experience in managing donor-funded projects and financial reporting to international donors
