Field Researcher

Overview

Alliance Asia Nepal is seeking qualified and motivated Field Researchers to support research, assessments, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) studies, surveys, and other field-based assignments across Nepal. The Field Researcher will play a key role in collecting high-quality qualitative data, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to research standards and ethical practices.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Data Collection and Field Research

• Conduct Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Indepth interviews (IDIs) and field observations.
• Collect qualitative data using digital and paper-based tools.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and quality throughout the data collection process.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with research ethics and safeguarding protocols.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with local government representatives, community leaders, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate community consultations and support field-level engagement activities.
• Represent the organization professionally during field assignments.

Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare field notes, interview summaries, and daily progress reports.
• Verify collected data and report any inconsistencies or challenges encountered in the field.
• Support transcription, translation, and documentation activities when required.

Monitoring and Evaluation Support

• Assist in baseline, midline, endline, and rapid assessment studies.
• Support monitoring activities and data verification exercises.
• Contribute to the quality assurance of research outputs.

Key Learnings

• Practical experience in development research and evaluation.
• Exposure to diverse development sectors and stakeholders.
• Enhanced qualitative research skills.
• Experience with digital data collection platforms and field operations.

Key Relationships

Internal: Research Team, Program Team, Monitoring and Evaluation Team.

External: Government officials, community representatives, project beneficiaries, development partners, and local stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing final year) in Development Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, Statistics, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or related fields.
• Previous experience in surveys, assessments, KIIs, FGDs, or research projects will be an advantage.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and documentation skills.
• Strong interviewing, probing, facilitation, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in Nepali and local languages.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work in remote locations.
