Rural Women Upliftment Association (RWUA), established on 22 Kartik 2050 B.S. in Sarlahi District, Madhesh Province, Nepal, is a non-governmental, non-profit social organization working for women's empowerment, child rights and protection, education, health, livelihoods, and community development. With more than 34 years of experience in community development and social transformation, RWUA has been implementing various development programmes in partnership with national and international development organizations. RWUA, in partnership with Save the Children under the SAMUNNATI Sponsorship Programme, invites applications from qualified, competent, committed, and motivated Nepali citizens for the following position:

Position Summary
The Field Officer – Education will be responsible for the overall implementation, monitoring, supervision, documentation, and reporting of education-related activities under the SAMUNNATI Sponsorship Programme. The position holder will provide technical support, coaching, mentoring, and capacity building to teachers, ECCD facilitators, School Management Committees (SMCs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), community volunteers, parents, and children. The Field Officer will particularly support ECCD, basic education, literacy, numeracy, child-friendly learning, school enrollment, retention, and quality education initiatives and will work closely with schools, communities, local governments, and other stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities
- Plan and implement education activities according to the Sponsorship Annual Plan (SAP), Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP), and approved project standards.
- Provide technical support, coaching, mentoring, and supervision to teachers, ECCD facilitators, SMC/PTA members, volunteers, parents, and children.
- Facilitate ECCD, basic education, literacy, numeracy, reading clubs, and safe-school activities.
- Conduct regular monitoring and supervision visits to schools, ECCD centres, and communities.
- Support teachers in developing age-appropriate lesson plans and improving classroom practices.
- Organize and facilitate training, orientation, workshops, meetings, and community-level education activities.
- Support school enrollment, retention, regular attendance, and learning improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and support implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for school-at-home children.
- Coordinate with headteachers, teachers, SMC/PTA members, local government education authorities, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Collect, verify, manage, and report programme data accurately through OPMIS and other relevant systems.
- Support assessments, surveys, research, MEAL activities, and programme reviews.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, case studies, and success stories.
- Prepare at least one case story and one success story every month.
- Support the timely procurement and distribution of educational and learning materials.
- Ensure programme activities are implemented according to quality standards and donor requirements.
- Address MEAL feedback and recommendations in a timely manner.
- Support advocacy, networking, coordination, and policy-related activities related to education.
- Represent in meetings, workshops, coordination forums, and other events as assigned.
- Support humanitarian and emergency response activities when required.
- Promote gender equality, inclusion, diversity, child protection, climate resilience, and the Do No Harm approach.
- Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.
Child Safeguarding and Protection
The position holder will have frequent direct contact with children and young people and must strictly comply with RWUA and Save the Children safeguarding standards. The selected candidate will be required to:
- Follow child safeguarding and protection policies.
- Comply with PSEAH (Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment) requirements.
- Follow the RWUA Code of Conduct and Do No Harm Policy.
- Follow the dual-adult rule when interacting with children.
- Report safeguarding and child protection concerns through established mechanisms.
- Ensure appropriate visibility and implementation of child protection policies at programme sites.
Minimum Qualification and Experience
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed.) Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in education programmes, with demonstrated experience in integrated development programmes, particularly in ECCD, Basic Education, stakeholder engagement. Experience working with NGOs/INGOs, schools, local governments, teachers, SMCs/PTAs, and communities will be an advantage and known Local Language
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong facilitation, training, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills in Nepali and English.
- Ability to prepare reports in Nepali (Preeti font) and English (Times New Roman).
- Good knowledge of MEAL, monitoring, data collection, validation, and reporting systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and internet applications.
- Ability to develop activity plans and support programme budgeting.
- Ability to work effectively with government authorities, schools, communities, and development partners.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work extensively in rural, remote, and field-based locations.
- Strong commitment to child rights, safeguarding, gender equality, inclusion, and organizational values.
Other Conditions
- Applicant must be a Nepali citizen and above 20 years of age at the time of application.
- The selected candidate must be willing to spend approximately 90% of working time in the field.
- Staff assigned to Haripur and Ishworpur Municipalities are expected to reside within their respective assigned working areas, except during approved leave, holidays, or official assignments.
